Conrad smiled as he turned to Otto von Metz, "Certainly, my liege. Take the 400 men with pleasure and let us utterly drive these Frisians back to their miserable lands! I will lure these Frisians to their destruction!"

Conrad is splitting his army into half to lure the Frisians into an ambush.

    Roberto de Taranto

Duke Niccolo looked at the man before him and scowled, "You've not even proven yourself to me, and you wish to be a commander? I'll admit you into my army, but as a sergeant among the normal troops! You're men are to be absorbed into my ranks as well!"

Roberto de Taranto has become a sergeant among the normal troops of Verona, and his command has been incorporated into the army as well

    Jaromir Cizek

Jaromir's men responded well to the training and were growing noticeably by the day, the training even attracted new men to his force, as they wished to receive that same level of training.

Jaromir's men have improved their skills through training, and attracted new men.

    Friedrich Meyer

As Friedrich and King Otto crossed the border into Saxony they met small amounts of resistance, and easily dealt with anything that came their way. It was odd, as the Saxons had perhaps the strongest kingdom in Germany. The began securing whatever parts they could under Prussian rule by subjugating town after town. They soon reached the Saxon capital and were surprised at the lax guard. However, it was a heavily fortified fortress and would be hard to take. Otto ordered Friedrich to make preparations for a siege, and if he could, come up with a strategy to take the castle.

Friedrich and the King of the Prussians have reached the Saxon capital and Otto is making preparations to besiege it. Friedrich has been ordered to draw up battle plans.

    ---

    Conrad Hohenburg

Otto immediately departed with his men and took them into the hills to the flanks of the Frisian force, while Conrad took his men to the opposite flank, all unseen by the King's army.

Both Otto and Conrad broke their forces into smaller troops of 50 men each, and took 50 cavalry each to lure the enemy. When Conrad began to see the enemy move to their right flank to attack Otto's bait, he sent his own out to split them in half. King Jean was, as Otto had explained not much for military strategy, and brought little to no archers with him, so he had no counter to feigned a retreating enemy, so he sent his infantry racing after them, all at once. On both sides of the Frisian camp, the plan turned out the same, The large Frisian force charged after the cavalry, and with the rolling of drums, and the blaring of battle horns, men came out of the hills on all sides to crush the Frisians, many of the Frisians were slain in battle, and many more captured. After the pursuing forces were decimated, there were not many men left in the enemy's camp, and King Jean attempted to flee. However, Otto had anticipated this and placed a small attachment in hiding along the escape route to halt them and capture them, which they did.

Little to no damage was taken by Conrad and his Swabians, and many soldiers had surrendered to his banner. His force was now growing, and upon their return to Otto's city, Otto surrendered the command of his force to Conrad, wishing to serve as a tactician rather than the governor of a city.

Conrad's forces utterly destroyed the Frisian army and captured their king, Jean, (You decide what to do with him, anything your heart desires). 1000 Soldiers have surrendered to his banner, and Otto has ceded control willingly to him. He now has control of Otto's castle. Otto is now serving under him

Roberto was displeased with the result of his meeting with the Duke. He was not just some average soldier to be among the rank and file. His men would suffer the most. They had pledged utter fealty to him and they were all practically glued to their horses.

Roberto resolved to meet with the Duke once more.

After several hours of waiting, Roberto was once more admitted into the Duke's hall.

Duke Niccolo stared at him and said in a questioning voice

"Back again seargent? I thought that I gave you an answer."

Roberto said what he had rehearsed in his head.

"My Lord. I was rash and arrogant to expect that you would accept me as a commander without proof of my experiance. Though I may be a bastard, My father was Norman. He gave me the best training and the best of tutors. I also served as an aid de camp to my father during his extensive campaigns in southern Italy and in Sicily. I have seen the battlefiled since i was 13 and it seems that I was born there. I ask you to reconsider your desicision. I ask only for a small command of only the men i brought, for they have sworn fealty to me. If needed i will also prove my self worthy in any way you desire."

Roberto then stood quietly awaiting Duke Niccolo's answer.

Roberto has asked Duke Niccolo to reconsider his desicision on his position and has offered his experiance in Southern Italy as proof. Roberto has also offered to prove himself through any task asked of him.

    Conrad Hohenburg, Governor of Metz
    Troops: 1800
    300/300

As King Jean was lead into Conrad's tent, Conrad motioned for him to sit down.

"You realise that you are completely in my power, don't you?" began Conrad, "By invading Swabia as you did, you have not exactly inclinded our hearts to mercy. However, I believe that the defeat and defection of your army has taught you that you are willing to make terms with us."

Realising that he was not going to be executed, as he had expected, the Frisian king looked up.

"What are your terms?" he asked questioningly.

"First, you must surrender Lower Lorraine to Swabia. Secondly, you will break off any military treaties you have signed with the French. Thirdly, you will swear fealty to Kaiser Heinrich of Swabia. For this, we will in turn recover Frisia for you from the Saxons." stated Conrad simply.

"It is a lot you ask of me." he countered.

"Of course, I can save your honour, if you will listen."

    "Go on, I shall listen."

"Very well then. I believe you have a daughter of eighteen, Kathrine?" questioned Conrad.

Jean's brow grew stern as he replied, "Yes, I do. What is it to you?"

"I ask of you her hand in marriage. As a dowry I request Lower Lorraine. You then will not be surrending it, but merely bestowing it on your son-in-law." replied Conrad, adding hastily, "I can assure you that I will take the uttermost care of her."

King Jean sat there deep in thought before answering, "Give me until tomorrow, and I shall give you my answer." he requsted.

"Certainly, I shall await your answer with interest."

Conrad nodded, and two guards entered the tent.

"Escort his highness to his quarters." he said to them. Turning to Jean, he said , "I trust you shall sleep well, and I hope that tomorrow we may meet on equal terms.

Conrad has proposed terms of peace to the Frisian king. He has also asked his daughter's hand in marriage. In return, he would receive Lower Lorraine.

    Jaromir Cizek

    300/300

"Jaromir, Jarmoir! Come quickly, young lad. You don't want to be late for your first war council, now do you boy?" Captain Lazlo chuckled as he led Jaromir into the council chambers, really just a large round room in the center of Prague's keep.

Jaromir was speechless. He was actually here with knights, generals and the Prince himself!

Prince Frederick spoke up quickly. "Don't let the name fool you, boy. Council means I speak and you obey, understand?"

Jaromir bowed low and nodded "As you will my king" he intoned.

The prince laughed heartily, took a deep sip of his large beer and leaned over to Captain Lazlo "you're right Lazlo, he does have the fire in the belly." "Very well, young knight, I have a task for you. But it's not easy, and not likely that you'll survive. Are you interested?"

Jaromir looked around the room. Generals who led whole divisions of the prince's army in the various corners of Bohemia stood at his flanks. What could Jaromir do that they couldn't. Still...

"Of course, my prince. My life is yours to do with as you will".

"Good, good. Jaromir, let me be straight with you. Those horsemen you and Captain Lazlo dispacted the other night... they weren't acting on the interests of Bela, King of Hungary. I know this because he is my brother-in-law and would tell me if I broke up one of his ambushes. What's more, one of the horsemen didn't die during the fighting. And my inquisitor, Monsignor Lozuk, managed to exert his usual 'persuasive' influence." The prince cast a wary eye at the clergymen that by all rumors had the mercies of Satan himself. Nobody questioned his loyalty, but word had it he'd torture his own mother if he thought she posed a threat to the prince, to Prague or to the Holy Mother Church.

"Jaromir, the problem is, we don't know who hired those men. It could have been several of our neighbors. It could have been the Bavarians. It could have been the Tyrolians, the Swabians, or even the Poles. God knows those magyars will sell themselves to just about anyone."

Jaromir nodded quietly, guessing where this all was leading.

"Jaromir, I want you to take your men north from the city. According to that horseman, there's a large camp a day's march north of here. I want you to break it up, kill everyone but one or two witnesses. Bring back any leaders you can, and let Monsignor Lozuk have a chat with them. Will you do that for me, Jaromir?"

Jaromir Cizek and his men march out of the city walls to try to destroy the bandit camp and find out who has hired them (entering Meissen). He is to bring back any higher ranking leaders for further questioning that he can.

Friedrich Meyer, Mayor of Cottbus and Meyersburuck
    Troops: 1800
    450/250

Friedrich thought over the various plans to take the capital city throughout the night, and proposed a plan to the King in the morning. They would siege the city and build a line of fortifications around it, but before it would be finished, they would arm some picked soldiers with Saxon weapons and armour, and let them “escape” into the capital city. Once they had infiltrated the city, at a chosen time, they would turn upon the defenders, at the same time the army outside would also begin their attack upon the walls, using ladders, catapults and siege towers. The two-pronged offensive would surely break the city’s defences. He also advised the King to make alliance with the Saxons’ enemies, like the Frisians.

The King looked pleased, but Friedrich could not gauge the king’s mind, and contented himself to wait outside the royal tent.

Friedrich Meyer drew up a battle plan, and is waiting for the King's response.

    Gustav Schtauffen
    Troops: 50
(Left the rest of them back in York)
    100/100

Gustav stares intently out the window, with his back to his second in command. "Can I trust you, Edmund, to keep the company intact? If my plan backfires, you may have to deal with Valdemar for control..."

Edmund looks thoughtful for a moment, a trait for which he was quickly premoted, and replies, "Surely Captain, your plan can't fail. With the defeat the Saxons have suffered, the would be wanting in troops."

Gustav looks grimly at Edmund, and replies in a voice laced with regret, "I am not so optimistic. King Conrad is a proud man, and is not apt to accept help, particularly sellswords. And do not forget that I am a wanted man in my own land, and could be arrested at the mere whimsy of the king on a good day."

Edmund continues to contemplate, taking his time. Edmund was an excellent tactician and strategist, but he had a tendency to take to long in thought and not enough in action. Valdemar on the other hand was just as brilliant, but was far to rash for and hotheaded for any form of command. Valdemar was just as likely to shove his enemy off a cliff as to dive off it himself.

Edmund finally looks up, and says in his oddly cheerful voice, "You can count on me Captain. As for Valdemar, I have an idea on how to occupy him while you are away."

"Good, then it is settled. I will make haste to Saxony with 50 of my hand-picked men. I will leave you in charge until you recieve notice. If I do not reply to you within 2 months, you are to assume command unitl my return."

Gustav has set sail to Saxony with 50 of his best men to petition King Conrad for service within the Saxon Army as Mercenaries. He has left the care of his company in the able hands of Edmund.

With the number of people joining in this format it's hard to keep track of everything, so I'm going to need to shut down this game and start a new one soon. It'll be a normal IH format, as those are easier to manage and such. Sorry everybody.

Well, I don't know what I'm basing the IH on, time period-wise and all, but suggestions would be appreciated, right now I'm either leaning toward this period or a Three Kingdoms China type of game.

May I suggest (I would do it myself if I had the time, but currently EC is hogging all my time not taken up by class) an IH based somehow around the Hanseatic League? Just a thought...
