I'm playing as Makedonia and have a type 4 government on Kydonia, with a level 4 local MIC. According to the Makedonian recruitment guide - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76644 - I should be able to recruit Toxotai Kretikoi now. But I still can't recruit Toxotai Kretikoi there.

EDIT: on the bottom of the recruitment guide - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76644#2 - it says that I need a type 2 government and a native level 4 MIC to recruit them. This is confusing, now what I need? I was hoping if anyone here knows?



I also have some other questions:

How come my generals never or barely get extra command stars? Recently I've been trying to win battles by intentionally fielding less units than the enemy so I get more heroic victories. It's especially easy when besieging cities, you can trap multiple units in the street if you just let one unit of Pezhetairoi defend a street. With Antigonus Gonatas' son Alkyoneus I won a few heroic victories, but it seems he still has the two command stars he started with, even after quite a few years of nearly constantly waging war.

How to disable unit banners? Some time ago I read how to do it in a topic here, but I can't find it with Google anymore.

I'm also playing a Casse campaign, but it's not much fun because I've conquered all of Britain and Ireland and I still can't recruit more than: Lugoae, Iaosatae, Gaeroas, Botroas, Sotaroas, Balroae, Daernaghta and Cwmyr. When I take a look at the units list for the Casse - https://europabarbarorum.com/factions_casse_units.html - I think it's a bit strange because the Cwmyr seem to be "higher level" than the Cemmeinarn, Gaelaiche and Kluddobro, but yet I can't recruit these units yet. What do I need to recruit Kluddargos? And what do I need to recruit the other Goidilic units in Ireland? Daernaghta aren't exiting, I want to play with the cool Goidilic units.

I have the same experience when playing with the Swêboz. You don't have money, so it takes so long before you finally have built the high level MIC's. I want to see the Márjoz in action, so I was wondering, are there cheats for giving mnai to the player or cheats for spawning MIC buildings in provinces?

Last question, could a complete recruitment guide for all factions please be included on the official website of EB, and information on reforms? I know some of this information can already be found on the forum, but it would be easier if it's all accessible from a central place like the website.

Kretikoi - Dunno.

Command stars - These are rare in EB. Relish them. You're doing right by fighting hard battles, but the general also needs to have good basic attributes (intelligence, charisma, vitality) to become good within a reasonable time. Cumulative battles will increase the chance of gaining stars.

Banners - Dunno, but I'm fairly certain the preferences.txt is involved.

Casse - They have a reform which you have not got yet. Hang in there!

Cheats - "add_money <amount>" and "process_cq <settlement>" on the console.

Recruitment guide - Check out Arkatreides' unit cards.

Don't be concerned about command stars. Your generals normally don't get command stars and they don't need it. More important are the traits which give more moral to the troops and more command abilities. (I'm not sure wether my comment is true if you let decide battles automatically.)

To get rid of the banners, open preferences.txt (in the EB folder) and simply change ShowBanners:TRUE into ShowBanners:FALSE. You can do it during a campaign.

The answer to the topic title: you need a level II government and a level IV building.

You answered your own question. Demolish whichever government you might have and build a level II. It might also be needed to demolish the barracks and start over, but Im not sure.

Thanks guys, the cheats for adding money and instantly completing what's currently being constructed in a settlement are quite useful. With the help of the cheats I just checked it out, and it's indeed necessary to have a type 2 government with a level 4 native MIC to recruit Toxotai Kretikoi.

And thanks for explaining how to turn off the banners.

Dan_Grr: I didn't answer my own question, I needed help because that recruitment guide was contradicting itself, because in the middle of the guide it says here - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...=76644#Kydonia - that I need a local MIC while it said on the bottom - http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=76644#2 - that I needed a native MIC

Pharnakes, I just checked my post again, but I don't see where I said that a regional MIC was necessary. In my understanding local = regional, native = factional.

Sorry guys, seems like I made a mistake in the recruitement guide.

Toxotai Kretikoi should be recruitable with a lvl 4 native MIC (hence the gov type 2 ), IIRC. Dunno why i put the T K in the local list.

Ill try to update my guide in the near future, had absolutley no time to play
EB for the last 2-3 months but that should change soon (at least on weekends).

That recruitment guide is slightly dated (it says Pezhetairoi can be recruited from Epidamnos, for example)

In my currently shelved Epeiros campaign (the last of many, using the latest version of EB) I could recruit Toxotai Kretikoi with factional MICs. Why the difference?
