Question Determine lost structures/buildings in occupied territory

    Hello everyone,

Just wonder if there are a formula to predict which buildings/structures going to be destroyed in each of these case:
    • Rebellion start in a territory
    • Invade and siege a territory
    • Invade and occupy a territory (enemy withdraw)

From my limited experience, it seems a bit random to me, especially with the dock. Almost every time I invade an island, the dock is lost and my army strained there. What's even weirder is when I let rebellion broke out in an island, and just withdraw to the ford. Again, the dock is immediately lost.

Is there anyway to let a territory rebel without destroying the dock ? What I want to do is safeguard my trade link. I am doing this by having one useless island rebel by withdraw all garrisons and ships link, then wait one turn and connect to them again as neutral for trading.

Thanks in advance for any help.

About the only predictable things here are: the castle will lose one level; ending a siege by subterfuge (ie spy opening gates or emissary bribing a besieged garrison) will cause little or no damage; invasion by sea about 99% chance of destroying the port (but that's just Murphy's Law, of course... )

I also notice very often that all buildings in a province will lose a level (ie spearmakers workshop gets knocked back to spearmaker etc) and it's the level 1 buildings that get destroyed outright (well you know 1-1=0, I guess ). If the invading faction are the Vikings (or using the Viking slot in a mod) then everything is destroyed, other than the castle, which still loses one level. Farmland generally seems to be an exception, and I think it usually survives unscathed.

And anything that doesn't match culturally will be destroyed - a mosque in a province taken by Christians (and probably this will include Christian zealot uprisings) will be lost, and the same for churches the other way round. Catholic churches taken by orthodox factions survive, & vice versa, they just get 'converted'.

After 3-4 yrs playing this, that's about all the pattern I can see in the degree of destruction, no easy formula for you, I'm afraid
