Default Whoa! Manhunt 2 comming to the Wii

Kiddie console, Gears of War chainsawbayonette that !

For those that don't know Manhunt, it's a *ahum* somewhat violent stealthgame with a very cool premise, playing in snuff movies! Normally I am not that fond of violent games, but Manhunt had truely terrific atmosphere if you got passed the first 4 boring missions. This game is kinda evil, if you ever had the urge to place a sickle in someone rectum, pull it backwards and watch him bleed to death, or choke someone with a baseballbat and smash his brains against the wall and watch them slide down (and why wouldn't you?) then this game is for you. Now Nintendo has had a few violent games on their systems before, but this is pretty hardcore YAY

Highly doubt they will do that, actually doing the moves is probably too much even for Rockstar

Oof, that sounded nasty >.< The rectum thing.

Manhunt 1 was alright, very stylish in a sense, typically Rockstar. Though it reminded me too much of their GTA. When I played it, it felt like a totally rearranged GTA, but you could still sense the same old thing. I'm talking about the PC version btw. Like the character movement was cheap, and the UI looked too much the same, etc. Those cheap moves that just reeked of GTA.
Rockstar should get their act together differently, and make a good game that finally does something else regarding gameplay, besides the usual superior style and violence they have. They just keep milking out that cow's udders until it can't be milked no more. At some point the cow's gonna complain, right? :P

    Now that that rant's over...

I'm very skeptical about Manhunt 2, as I suspect it'll just be the same old thing again. They better provide superior gameplay, or I'll-- I'll.... uh... well, you know!!

You finished the game Bijo? It starts out very lame, but once the guns come into action it gets a whole lot better, stealthgaming at it's finest with bursts of extremily intense action. It's mostly the mood and awesome locations that did it for me, an abandoned zoo common!

    And EA, suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure

As much as I hate to say it, I think Manhunt was almost too violent for me. The ultra-violent GTA games always had enough tongue-in-cheek for it not to bother me at all- but Manhunt really lays it on heavy.

That's not to say I won't check it out if a sequel comes to the Wii.

True. Those environments and the mood were good, if not perfect. To answer your question, I didn't finish it, 'cause I didn't have the patience to go further. Only played a few levels and just uninstalled the damn thing. And of course I was cursing at the game 'cause it was so cheap (imo) :P

Manhunt reminded me of Escape from New York and thats a good thing. Yet another reason for me to get off my computer chair and buy a Wii.

I can see the outraged parents now, sueing Rockstar for [kerblip] up their already preprogrammed, Jesus loving kids and Hillary Clinton using violent video games and movies as an important issue on her presidential campaign.

All the while me and all other teenagers up and around the world will be plunging that wii remote into the shoulders of an unsuspecting, masked hood. Mwuaha. Bring it on.

On a side note, Manhunt 1 wasn't that good. Just all the bad publicity wanted me to buy it. Shadow of Rome makes Manhunt look like Tetris in terms of violence. But, meh, that's Capcom from the great South-East Asia where everything goes!

And since you play these games and are so full of love for other people like Hilary and christians, you have to be the living example that Hilary is completely wrong, right?

I used to play Manhunt on the PC. It was a somewhat shoddy port as their were issues with unlocked content not working properly, something like it only saves the content unlocked with last saved game you loaded and if you go back to unlock content from an early mission, you might lose the unlocks you already made from later missions.

I played up to the "Wrong Side of the Tracks" mission where you have to kill 100 000 SWAT members who stalk you thru the subway tracks whilst you have no weapons. I ended up running past the first group to the save point, but then that fubared me because there was no way to kill them off and the guys near the save point too. At least, not on the difficulty level I had it set to, which was the highest one. After dying a ton of times in that situation, I lost interest and never finished the game.

It's was an ok game but not nearly enough fatality moves in it. Many of the weapons have repeated fatalities, and in all there are very few. Which might be ok in most cases, but for a game based on "cool fatalities" (ie: like Mortal Kombat), it's pretty disappointing.

Also, a lot of the game is straight out fact-to-face shooting instead of being man-hunted, which detracts a lot from the gameplay in my view.

Not sure if the Wii has good enough graphics to handle part 2 of this game. All the graphics I've seen of Wii look really crappy compared to the graphics of the original Manhunt.

In terms of graphical power- PS2<GC<Wii.
Shouldn't be any trouble improving on the original graphics...

Cool enough fatalities for me, common, nothing says 'I love you' like the chainsaw stealthkiss MUHAHAHAHAHA BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED. Didn't really bother with the overly violent ones anyway, only when they used my daughter as bait. I like to roleplay my games a bit and I feel it is important that she knows what her daddy does for a living.

about graphics, Wii ain't that wiik, check this

and compare it to this (from manhunt ps2 version)

My issues with the fatalities were moreso with the lack of them in terms of number, rather than their coolness itself. Ie: new weapons using the same fatalities you already used with old weapons, plus IIRC some weapons only have 2 fatalities instead of 3 like they are supposed to etc etc.

Although with some of the fatalities I had no idea what Cash was doing to them, since it isn't clear from watching it in-game. I had to read Manhunt boards just for it to be explained about what the move is supposed to be.

To be fair about the above screenshots, one of those looks like an "official" screenshot - which are always glossed up a lot with Photoshop hence not at all representative of the actual game. Whereas the Manhunt is a legitimate screenshot taken from in-game as it would appear for anyone playing it.

Also for those who haven't played Manhunt, the reason it's so blurry is because the screenshot taker had the fuzz on which is an intended effect to make it looks like a fuzzy movie; an effect which can be turned off from the in-game menu.

What game is the first screenshot supposed to be from?

It's from new Prince of Persia game, it looks insane. But yeah some weapons in manhunt are the same, meat cleaver and machette do exactly the same thing. From a gameplay point of view there only is one weapon because they are all triggered in the same way, but the Wii might change that.

I never got to use the chainsaw, the game got dull when it became less about stealth and more about shootouts. Honestly, on my last save all I have in my invetory is my mitts and a shotgun. Where's the gruesome fun in that? I'll play Scarface if I want to play a violent, well made 3rd person gang shoot-em-up.

    BUMP

On Wii, you act out the execution with a series of gestures timed to on-screen cues. If you're cutting into a man's skull with a saw, which you sometimes do, you might have to make a forward/backward motion with the Wii remote, hit the B trigger to a visual cue, and then gesture quickly upward with both controllers to put the finishing touches on the attack. It's much more immersive both because motion-based controls are inherently so and also because you're stringing together these attacks in the Wii build, while they are canned animation sequences in the PS2 one.

Im not sure i agree with the wii actions killing some one buy pressing X is fine but it seems a little weird to be actualy mimicking the sawing of some ones head off. But as its novel i cant say no.

Yeah, I wonder how that will play out as well. I thought it might be unsettling to strangle people in The Godfather using the wiimote- it wasn't. But that game has a lighter "Hollywood" feel to it than Manhunt2 seems to. We'll see I guess.

Seems like this one is even darker then the first, I love the new trailer. It reminds me a lot of Silent Hill, I really can't wait for this one
