In the older versions *.72* baktria had access to Hetairoi, but in the more recent ones it doesn't. Also it's bodyguard unit says 'As a unique characteristic, they carried a palm branch on their back, possibly to distinguish themselves from the rest of the Hetairoi cavalry' suggesting that they did have Hetairoi. Will they be getting them back and/or why did they lose them as a unit?
Hmmm... well, if they had Hetairoi they would probably different from the ones used by the primary successors. This might be something to look into.
That or the description needs to be re-written.

I hope the former and not the latter. But really, wasn't there some better place to put the palm branch, perhaps in replacement of the plume on their helmets? Baktrian bodyguards look like they've been stabbed in the back by a gigantic green goosequill, giving flesh to the proverb 'the pen is mightier than the sword'. It's a bit unnerving every time i zoom in to see a forest of palms growing out the back of my Somatophylakes' necks... o.O
Tell it to the coin...
I looked around and didn't find any discussion for removing them, but there is a lot of places that discussion could be hidden. I did find a list of Baktrian units from two years ago and Hetairoi were not on it. They might have been on the Baktria unit list as a placeholder for a heavy cavalry. Baktria will get another heavy cavalry unit in the next release.
Wow, thats a really nice coin
You would be surprised at how much we use comes from coins. This is mainly because coins are among the very few representations that survive to our day. That and they are pretty.
Seriously, take a look and see what you can find. From faction symbols to battle banners to units themselves - I promise you will find quite a bit. Plus, it is astonishing the quality of some of these coins. Simply astonishing.

In a weird kind of way, I think you are right. At least he was fit, (unlike his son,

Heliokles, who came to power after killing his brother. Now the slain brother had killed father Eukratides first, on his chariot as he returned beaten from India (Menandros, whooped him bad) he is recorded as having said "I have slain an enemy, not a father".
Just a typical Hellenistic ruling family.
Other than that, The Early Baktrian Bodyguard they look good, don't they?
Seeing the coin, you can understand where we got them from.
You can also see how good an artist Spartan Warrior is.

Yes they look cool, palm branch included
But that is the
Early bodyguard? Meaning there'll be a switch to a later version for them at some point?

Yes. Yes they will.

Oh dear god yes, yes they will.
Conqueror 16:34 06-03-2007
Well I guess that really was a dumb question to ask. Why else would they be called early bodyguards
