Default The Lord of the Rings: Total War Heroes preview

Here is the list of Heroes who has their own unique models to be featured in LOTR-TW 2.0. The unique models appear on the battlefield as well as the strategic map, enabling you to track all these important characters on the world map:

The Fellowship of the Ring, sans the two who left for Mount Doom.

The Ringbearers. Frodo, Sam and Gollum will be a unit of their own, hiding as hard as they can. There is a chance, however, that Gollum could snatch the Ring from Frodo and set out on his own. This may only happen if the player do not play as the Free-peoples, which Frodo belongs too. As other factions, you must clear the way to Mount Doom to allow Frodo to destroy the Ring, thus destroying Sauron and Mordor with him. If Gollum snatched the Ring, you should take the Ring from him and keep it safe from evil hands, even if you must pay the ultimate price.

The Heroes of Rohan. Eowyn, as a Shield Maiden, cannot move out of Edoras. She will stay there to protect it with her life. Eowyn leads a unit of Meduseld Guards, who are Royal Guards on foot.

The Heroes of Gondor. Boromir will be an optional Hero because he is dead according to the timeline. Aragorn for Gondor is wearing his Gondor outfit.

The Heroes of Galadhrim elves. Galadriel cannot move out of Caras Galadhon if she still carry her ring and her mirror.

Gothmog, orc commander of Mordor and Saruman, master of Isengard. Saruman will stay in Isengard until he receives the One Ring. Gothmog is the only orc commander of Mordor and will stay dead if killed, unlike the Nazgul.

Grima Wormtongue and Mouth of Sauron are diplomats for Isengard and Mordor respectively, and only appears if you play as the faction. Only player faction gets a diplomat and he's the only one you'd ever get.

The Witchking of Angmar and the Nazgul. The Nazgul cannot stay dead if Mordor still has all its cities. If killed, they will respawn one at a time the following turns. However, Mordor is the only faction who cannot promote an officer into a general status.

The Heroes of the Battle of the Last Alliance. Elendil, Gilgalad and Isildur do not appear in the mod's campaign. Sauron cannot move out of Barad-dur and weakened until he receives the One Ring.

The Oathbreakers of Dunharrow. Only Aragorn may summon them if he proved his worth then received Anduril as reward. He must then travel to a certain city, where he may summon the Dead. The Army of the Dead can only be used in one battle, after which they would disappear forever.

The Heroes of Gondor who didn't appear in the movies. Imrahil is the Prince of Dol Amroth and Elphir his son. Forlong the Fat is the lord of Lossarnach region and Hirluin the Fair is lord of Pinnaeth Gelin.

The Heroes of other factions who didn't appear in the movies (well, Cirdan appeared for like, 2 seconds, in the background and blurry).

LOTR-TW 2.0 is well underway and on the last phase of alpha testing. We will begin closed beta testing shortly. I will make a new post about closed beta tester recruitment. After a (hopefully) short period of closed beta, LOTR-TW 2.0 will be released as an open beta for further balancing.

The entire LOTR-TW team and myself would like to thank the org and other modding communities for all the help and support.
