    Default Nomad Portraits

Hello EB team! I was looking at the nomadic portraits for BI and a question began to formulate in my mind. Would it be possible to take the nomad portraits from BI and give them to the Saka and Sauromatae in EB? The Saka and Sauromatae are a distinct seperate culture from the western european factions, especially the Saka and I feel that these portraits would make them look even more distinct. Well It just an Idea feel free to hurt my feelings and cast me into the black pit of despair. I know the EB team is busy so I just want to know if its possible.

We don't use any elements from BI as our mod does not require BI.

I would happily do a mini mod. I just have to put aside some time in my schedule.

Here is how they looked like

    and

Remember we are talking Iranians, not Turks. They were in Mongolia at the time of EB and Eastern Southern Siberia.

Hey, and where were the turks by that time??? I always thought that they came from central asia, like turkmenistan and such...

Oh well, they were nomads, but on which place of the earth were they at that time?

I'm fairly sure the proto-Turkics were hanging out somewhere not terribly far east from where the Saka start. Incidentally, were the Saka of "Iranian" lineage or did they have some connection to the more eastern proto-Turkic and -Mongolic nomads ? The essays on the EB site might actually mention this, but I'm feeling too tired to check...
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

Proto Turks were living in Mongolia and eastern Siberia at the time, Northern of Hsiung Nu, who in turn lived to the east of the Tokharoi (Yuehzi). Those lived in the fertile corridor upwards of Qin state and in the Taklamakhan desert. Sakae lived in many places as they were a conglomeration of peoples really, but mostly to the west of Yuehzi and upwards and westwards of Baktria. Further on to the west were the Pahlavan and on their north Massagetae. Northwards of them and until the Romanian borders of Ukraine were the Sarmatian tribes, but for a few lands still occupied by the Skythians.

All this is at the games' start. Central asia (Turkestan, Turkmenistan etc) became Turkish, much much later.

Oh, nice, I always wanted to know that...

I even heard some theories linking the proto-turks as a branch of the Huns, the Mongols, and relating them even with Gengis Khan...

yes original turks are not caucasian. caucasian admixture came when male populations of greeks armenians, serbians, romanians were put into the janisary corps (taken from their familes at a very young age this procedure was called the Dervish tax) and the women put into the harems ( little girls were also taken part of the Dervish tax)

... From what I've heard turks banging foreign chicks is older than jesus .

Anyway what is the difference between a proto-turk and a turk ? There mass migrations out of the far east asian steppe's ? Chinese influence becoming major in there culture?

I've noticed with the seleucids that some of their characters if they were persian for example would have eastern portraits instead of greek. My original thought was would it be possible to portray different portraits for people of different ethnic backround.

Portaits that are assigned to people who come of age or those that are adopted are random. It is impossible to assign portraits (midgame) based on traits or anything, for that matter.

It's even difficult to get them like you want them for the starting characters. We pretty much haven't done anything in that respect yet either and I am not sure that we will.
