I looked at the mod tutorial data base, and found a tutorial on how to add a religion to RTW:BI, and my question is; Is it done the same way in M2TW? My idea is to add a new "type" of Christianity, gnosticism, and attribute a few new religious factions - namely the Cathars from southern France - to the gnostic religion - this will give players a few more options, and a different way to dominate the world - through pure religion. Since the Cathars were passive, as are most true gnostics, they do not make skillful warriors, but have powerful parfaits that can cause rebellions in cities, and can convert enemy militia and settlements quite easily (as they give people another option and respite from the strenuous strictures and greed of Catholicism). I have done quite a bit of research to get the information right, and feel as though the Cathars deserve a rightful place in this game - in fact, one of the quotes that is shown on the loading screens ("Kill them all, God will recognise his own.") is actually made in direct reference to the Cathars at the start of the Albigensian crusades- the individual responsible for making the comment was a representative of the pope who commissioned the crusade. Its pretty sad actually, in 1145 AD Saint Bernard was sent to south France to preach against the heretical sect, but when he got there he was more appalled at the nature of his catholic bretheren than the Cathars! Years later (1209 AD) the pope commissioned the Albigensian Crusade and when Simon De Montfort asked the Abbot of Citeaux "How will we know who is a true believer, and who is a heritic?" The abbott replied "Kill them all, God will recognise His own."
