    Thumbs down Eurotrashvision

    Winner: Serbia.

Sorry Rdece, but the song your country came up with is one of the worst songs I've eve heard in the past couple of years. No rythm, just a girl ( or a boy? what is he/she?) who's screaming something out of a mouth. Really, the song is disgusting.

Even though you might label me as nationalistic, I found that Romania had the most original tune, and even though I dont like the music in my country, I have to admit it was really good, and had catch for the public. Russia, with 5-6 girls copied it off a known hit (the music), Sweden tried to "copy" Abba, but Ukraine was damned hilarious with that guy who was dressed up...ehem...

But some of the songs, like United Kingdom ( what in the world was that? ), Macedonia ( see Serbia ), Bosnia Herzegovina ( ??? ) were top 12 and tunes like France, Latvia and Romania were left outside, is simply incredibly stupid. Or should I say, politically masterminded?

Sorry for being so one-sided, but just listen to the songs and then we will talk...

Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

The best song won. Serbia's song sent shivers down my spine, despite the fact that I didn't understand the words. Overall it was a powerful song that was both beautiful and touching.

Where have you been living in the past couple of months? Cave? Monastery? Alone in the woods?

How could that song possibly be touching? Even church music is better in terms of beauty and message.

Well it is your loss if you failed to see the beauty of that song. Additionally I do not like your insinuation that I'd have to live in a bloody monastery or a cave to be touched by that song.

Then again at least with the Dervish effort being so rubbish (even by eurovision standards) it means the bookmakers are paying out well 33/1 woohoo

Hmmph. France should have won. They or Hungary. But Serbia wasn't that bad, so it is an acceptable winner.

Serbia was the only country that I saw, so I can't really compare with other countries, Eurovision is not my sort of thing, and neither is music in general. I do agree, however, that he/she wasn't especially good. It was a combination of a poor song and the way it was sung it in my opinion.

The right song won. Serbia was by miles the best entry this year.

Sure, there is plenty of political voting but that makes it all fun. Common, hand on heart, who really wants to actually win the Eurovision?

I should have gone to the bookies. I had the first three all right.

Many entries were rubbish (dare I say, all) but at least some had real entertainment value.

Did Greece not vote for Turkey again?

I'll bet they voted for Cyprus though.
There are times I wish they’d just ban everything- baccy and beer, burgers and bangers, and all the rest- once and for all. Instead, they creep forward one apparently tiny step at a time. It’s like being executed with a bacon slicer.

Bloody monastery? Here's another thing that demonstrates that the song is rubbish. The singer should have been to rehab before this. I really disliked her attitude, fist up and that pitbull face. Disgusting once again.

This 'dicsussion' is very comical; in fact, almost as comical as the ESC itself. No one claimes to watch it, yet, everybody seems to want to have a say in it (lest we forget, 140 million actually DID watch it).

Having said that, this board seems to consist of mainly 'sensible' people, hence the poor amount of posts (or perhaps people really DO have something better to do on Mothers Day).

The ESC is a comedy night (and not a particularly good one at that) but it only ever happens once a year. It has reached cult status and is a 'must-see' for at least half of this continent. It mirrors not only (hardly at all) the quality of music or performances but mainly the political allegences. The West has dominated the ESC for the whole of the last century. Now, all of a sudden, we get worked up about the East and their lending a helping hand to their neighbours. What's wrong what that? Let them host it and make a laughing stock of themselves. I can't wait to see the Serbs botch the job.

And let's face it, there must have been something to their song as the Serbs are not exactly the most popular country in Europe.

    Leap of faith here:

Germany - were never going to win with big band music
Russia - were always going to be in the top 5 - politics and chicks
Ukraine - absolutely silly and comedy award winners - definitely top 3
UK - oh dear, neither funny nor a good and memorable song
Romania - qualitatively low but comical
    France - dito
    Bulgaria - wacky
Finland - I actually liked that song - should have done better
    Moldavia - dito
    Sweden - another 'oh dear'...
Turkey - just goes to show that belly dancing gets you a top 10 spot
Greece - I can't actually remember any of it...

As to the other entries, most were rubbish (no memorale melody or not comical enough).

I was playing Xbox but I have 2 TV's in my room so I had it on aswell since nothing else was on. I see it as very politically influenced. Malta gave UK 12 points despite a song from a totally unknown group of people. Bulgaria gave Greece 12 aswell, Norway gave Sweden 12.. I think even Ireland gave UK a good few.

The point is, in the UK no one will enter for Eurovision who is well known probably because they dont want a destroyed reputation because no one will vote for UK because no one likes England.

I watch it because it amuses me every time how people give points to their traditional adversaries. Cyprus gave 12 points to Greece( figures ) but 0 points to Turkey.

Yeah sure, massacring is only Turkish job. It doesn't count as ethnic cleansing when other do it right? Bloody hell, get some facts before you open your mouth again. I know this is not the place for politics -but I'll always remind to those no matter what that it's not a place to paint lies around.

Seriously, who gives a heck to Eurovision?

Scandinavians love each other. Same goes for most of the neighboring countries. If you have many immigrants in a country you'll get a traditionally high score.(e.g. Turks in Germany) Cyprus does not like Turkey although we are neighbors. And such tremendously and hilariously senseless deepsh-pit of political scene all around.

Do you really think it's a contest about music ?

Rythmic didn't even mention the word massacre, he merely stated there's a Turkish presence on Cyprus. So I'm assuming he wasn't trying to insult Turkey, or any of it's members here.
