    Default Please define Obudshaer (M2TW)

Would any Danish person like to give a proper definition of the word "obudshaer"? I know that "haer" means army. "Bud" can mean message or command. ("commander's army" perhaps?) I cannot decipher it in my Danish-English dictionary. (pretty awful considering my user name!) Historically, what was this army? Volunteer? Elite? Factual?

    Thanks.

Well, even though I am Danish, I have never heard the word before MTW2. It doesn't show up in any of my history books, but I must admit that they are ordinary history books and not directly about military history.

And you have made more logic of the word with your dictionary, than I did when I noticed the word in the past ;-)

As a last desperate effort I tried to google it, but all I found was a page about a wargame with miniatures, that stated that: "Obudshaer were a select levy of younger single men, raised specifically for overseas or foreign campaigns" (http://www.merkitulus.com/armies/Med..._army_t5.html). But they do not state from where they have got the info.

Sorry, I couldn't help. I will be watching this tread waiting for someone to come up with at better explanation.

    Cheers Baeksen

Might be some medieval word which has been changed or fallen out of usage.
