    Default Support Through Levy Building

Hey guys, I'm new to using this mod, and beginning a campaign as the Romans, I'm confused on the function of the Support Through Levy building. Is it for recruiting auxilia troops that aren't available at the beginning? If not, what is it's function?

    Thanks in advance.

That is the regional MIC and recruits native regionals in a province with a type IV/III or II gov outside of the italic penisular. It will recruit gallic troops in gaul, african troops in africa, iberian troops in iberia and greek troops in greece.

So it's realitively usless inside the Italian Peninsula?

Also, excuse the next question but I'm unfamiliar with MIC and type II/III/IV governments, could someone explain these?

The MIC is EB's term for barracks, and stands for Military Industrial Complex. There are two types of MICs, native/factional and regional. The factional MIC recruits troops that are native to your factions culture, which we designate as factional troops. The regional MIC recruits units that local to a particular province.

There are four types of goverment, and their basic role is to designate what kinds of troops can be built there (though they also restrict certain buildings as well). The Type I Government is commonly referred to as the Homeland Government and can be placed in any province with a homeland marker (a building with a picture of corn on it). This allows limited construction of the Regional MIC, but allows maximum construction of the Factional MIC. This usually means that there will be none or very few local troops, but lots of factional troops. At the other end of the scale is the Type IV, which basically allows limited construction of the factional MIC, but full construction of the regional MIC.

For more information on the individual government types, read their descriptions. They have a strategy guide that explains what they do.

Regional MIC is useless inside your starting area. In southern Italy you can recruit some Greek units with it, in northern Italy you can recruit some celtic units with it.

Edit: Foot explained the rest :)

OK, found the strategy section in the building descriptions, I understand better now.

    One more question.

While reading the descriptions, it summarizes that Gov IV is auxilia military-focused and III is economically focused. However, it doesn't mention a focus for I/II. Would that mean that I/II are both economy and military focused?

III/IV should really be IIIa/IIIb - they're two variations of governing system out in the sticks.

    Here's how I see it:
Type1 - Homeland Government: This is where you're people come from and best in any place you can build it.
Type2 - Conquered Areas: This is part of your empire but doesn't originally have the same type of culture or battle tactics as you. I usually build these in every place I can.
Type3 - Outlying Regions: These are areas that are part of your empire but are far from your center and have much of the original culture intact. Alternately, these can be areas near you that you choose to leave culturally intact. Even though type3 can be worse than type4 for many factions, I usually build these in most outlying areas for roleplay purposes.
Type4 - Allied Nation: These are a different form of protectorate or a form of puppet government. They are their own nation and have their own culture but they will follow your lead in anything you tell them to do. I'll usually build these in places that have good regional units (Galatia, Thrace, Crete, etc) or in areas that I feel would have been allied rather than subjugated for roleplay purposes.

That's my oppinion and how I treat governments. They vary from faction to faction but that is basically it.
