Selective volume control so I can listen to youtube stuff while playing a game in the arcade.
Anyone know a web browser or plug in that supports selective volume control ?

I think there exist no plugins or web browsers for that purpose but I'm uncertain if this is true. But... if I perfectly understand you then I say isn't it "already possible" by simply using tabbed browsing? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding you.

This probably won't help you, but that's one of Vista's features (selective volume control for each window)Originally Posted by doc_bean

Yes, I already tried that when I saw the thread, didn't work at first because I tried only Opera, with Opera it doesn't work though, but since you just said it, I tried with IE and there it actually shows a control for each window, though with two Opera windows I had one control for both, with IE it was possible to set each window to a different setting. Of course you could always use Opera and IE as well, don't know about Firefox since I don't even have that installed.

That seems like just a way to use Media player from within firefox, I can't control the volume of the browser windows with, or at least i don't know how![]()

doc_bean, allow me to have a meager attempt to explain.
If you have a web browser that allows tabbed browsing and you are using it, then I do not see the problem. You would most likely have a Youtube page open on one tab, and you would probably have an Arcade page open on the other (and possibly separate windows for the games, etc).Originally Posted by doc_bean
It must be that Youtube naturally plays off videos and such and you can use a media player -- whichever it is -- and control its volume. For the Arcade games the general volume control should suffice. This way you -- I think at least -- would be enabled to reasonably control both volume levels. This is to my knowledge selective volume control, albeit VERY BASIC.
Unless you require the Arcade games to be silent, this would work, not? (Do the Arcade games have sound even? I have never played one with my sound one, but I assume they have it.)
You did not specifically mention to have the sound off for Arcade games. If you want that and you want "true selective volume control" I cannot help you, but this at least would appear a correct answer.

I want "true selective volume control", most arcade games do have sound (btw it isn't just arcade games, some sites have annoying adds with sound which you can't turn off), and their 'natural' volume tends to be much louder than youtube's maximum volume.
