Default How to change a unit?

Ive been looking trough the forums without getting a good answer to this, and it might not be possible. I want to change the skin of the dismounted armoured sargents for england. Right now im installing the 1.1 so I can unpack the files and I have a program to edit it with. Is it possible to without making mod-folders or anything, just make a backup of the unit texture and replace it with my own? I would also like to change the head, this should be possible since all units use like 3 different heads. (not just one model for the entire body). Im a noob at modding, I have never done it before so if you can explain, please talk so I understand.

if you want to change anything you need to set up a batch file.

to change skins you need to get a texture to .dds converter and a program like adobe photoshop.

to change the "heads" you need a .mesh converter to .ms3d and milkshape then you can open up the .mesh and edit out the groups of heads you dont like.

if you save ur reskinned texture file and rename it, you will have to work with the model.db file and change the line for texture of the unit your working with or the game wont read the file
