    Default Ireland

I've recently sent an expedition to ireland, playing as the koinon hellenes. I've gotten bored of the constant war with a large pontic empire on the eastern front (they just field armies of trash and assasinate my good generals bastards!)
so I decided to do something somewhere else, so i picked as far away as i could.

I've sent my army to the spanish/french boarder via fleet and im going to march them across the narrow part and pick them up on the other side with another fleet. I've kept the forces quite small that im sending to keep costs down.

I just wanted to know what mercenarys you can recruit in ireland and whether the koinon hellenes has access to any goilic(sp?) troops via the regional MIC buildings, and what type of resistance is there on the island. I've not even managed to send a spy or diplomat there yet so im going in blind (all the more fun)

    Cheers for any advice.

    Cool Re: Ireland

How long have you been playing? If it's before the first Celtic reforms(220BC yes?)then you won't see much. Only the Leacha(sp?) and the levy spear Irish units are available and only to the rebels and the Celtic factions.(As well as the Lusotanann)On top of that, the starting armies of the rebel Irish garrisons are made up of mostly regional Casse units(Pictish peltasts, Midlander Spear men, some Cyrmr, and maybe a few Chariots)so again you won't see much. That is unless, you do some extensive modding, and even then you might have to restart your campaign for some of the changes to take effect.

Regional MICs are not reform dependent; that's why the Romans can recruit Neitos regardless of the era. So if the KH can recruit Goidelic units, they should have immediate access to them. I am not sure if they can, though. Possibly they get access to the basic spearunit, but I doubt they'll get much more.

They can't. I checked the Desr_model_battle.txt and the spear men share the model with their Illyrian counterparts.(hence why the Gauls can only recruit the Goidelic version as well)It's cool that your going for it anyway but I'll probably stay in the East when I play the KH.
