Have you just been dumped?
I ask because it's usually something like that which causes outbursts like this, needless to say I dissagree completely.
So there aren't any books on these 2 subjects? Interesting

Well there is plenty of fiction on Chinese imperial history but frankly if you don't go in for Romance of the Three Kingdoms or anything of the sort you are pretty hamstrung because being a seminal text it is frequently imitated.
Check Inoue Yasushi's novels about mongol china (there are three I think: one about Genghis Khan, one about Kubilai and one more called Lou-Lan -at least the french translation)
"Les Cons ça ose tout, c'est même à ça qu'on les reconnait"
Kentoc'h Mervel Eget Bezañ Saotret - Death feels better than stain, motto of the Breton People. Emgann!
Oh, and how could I forget Robert Van Gullik's novels? Not so impressive in terms of litterature, but really cool. Discover Judge Li! If I remember well, it's about the Ming era (15th century).
Edit my last post... of course Genghis Khan's story is not about China but anyway, the novel is a true masterpiece. I hope it was translated in English, but since a tremendous lot of foreign novels are translated in French, I'm due to think it's the same everywhere else... and it's obviously not...
Just for fun I give you the japanese titles:
"Lou-Lan":Eitai-konshu no kubi kazari
"Le loup bleu": Aoki okami
"Vent et vagues": Fuhtoh

Very good books though.
"Let us remember that there are multiple theories of Intelligent Design. I and many others around the world are of the strong belief that the universe was created by a Flying Spaghetti Monster. --- Proof of the existence of the FSM, if needed, can be found in the recent uptick of global warming, earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. Apparently His Pastaness is to be worshipped in full pirate regalia. The decline in worldwide pirate population over the past 200 years directly corresponds with the increase in global temperature. Here is a graph to illustrate the point."

i should never trust twenty years old souvenirs!

Eagle Shooting Hero, a wuxia story thus with lots of fantasy martial arts, but the first few chapters where Guo Jing grows up contains some fascinating descriptions of Mongolian life and warfare.
