The topic is the question at hand, are there certain amounts of turns I must wait before attacking someone I signed a Ceasefire with?
I want to be an honourable and trusted barbarian, haha. Thank you all in advance.

You can attack them on the same turn that you made the ceasefire, i've done it myself; just to gain money to stop attacking them, then i bring my warriors back into the fray!
There is no limit.

Really? And no diplomatic backlash or transgressions?Originally Posted by Fate
And here I wasted 3 turns waiting... sigh. Thank you.
Anyone else have any other experiences with backstabbing a recently ceasefired faction?
Hi Elephant,
I don't think so, as Ludens said, the R:TW diplomatic AI is often irritably random. However, it may still exist, or at least have been an intended feature that was later removed - the manual suggests that backstabbing will make relations harder to negotiate and the diplomatic responses often talk about you being an untrustworthy faction.Originally Posted by Elephant
Yep, thousands of times - I also do it to allies, although I often try to civilly conclude the alliance first - I'm a polite leader!Originally Posted by Elephant

There is a diplomatic backlash. Other factions responses to your diplomacy will end with reference to your previous lack of honour. Conversley giving money regulary to a faction will better keep good relations.
Overall though the sentiments expressed by other posters prevail. Diplomacy in RTW is not very transparent and often behaves in a seemingly illogical way.
Most amusing recent example:
As Perthia I was fighting Egypt. One of Egypts best diplomatic lines is their request that you become a protectorate.."..all your bases are ours..." speech. Sure enough up it pops. They want me to be a protectorate of theirs.
No matter that I am beating them, am bigger in regions and armed forces. Yes I say provided they give me one of your regions. They accept. Cool. Ive got another region and a garrison to go with it.
The best bit...I close the diplomacy screen and its still Egypts turn. They attack me breaking the protectorate status. How neat was that! Protectorate for about 3 seconds. Only downside perhaps was cash. I have a suspion that they got half my cash balance...€3000. Still it was a good value exchange. They can ask for my bases again.![]()

Nobody knows for sure, since R:TW diplomacy appears to be rather random. Possibly there is a suspicion factor, but this certainly does not seem to deter the A.I., who can make ceasefires and attack again on the same turn.Originally Posted by Elephant
