Is there a list of tested, working cheats anywhere?
cos i'm testing a few to see what they're like and am having trouble weeding out the faulty ones.
    thanks

    also, since i cant edit...

what is the trait 'feck' and what does it do

I think Feck is the "Foul Mouth" trait.

And cheating in this game is completely unnecessary, unless you're doing it to make the poor, poor, retarded AI stronger. It's just way too easy.

Who what when where and how do you use that one? I have tried that one in every possible form (even ones that don't say force or diplomacy) and it doesn't work...

I may not cheat alot but it would always be useful when that stupid AI has one city, you have 2 armies in his territory, offer him 10k and he still says something like "Our people are too proud to be the slaves of any man.."

Sure, you say that to a diplomat but what about 7,000 bored and hateful Roman Legions?

If someone replys "It has never worked" or "doesn't work" ill understand...i've heard them all before...but is there a mod of some sort that would give you some console commands to alter little things like diplomacy?

    It doesn't work, Truepraetorian.
There is, however, a mod for EB that enables you to do. And, as far as I know, it's automatically included in the Extended Greek Mod.

Sprinspartan, I personally don't play multiplayer, so someone else will help you out, however, for the sake of preserving the initial thread's topic, could you post your request in a new topic?
Also, please specify with which game you're trying to play multiplayer.

    Hi Springspartan,
I presume, from other posts which you have made, that you are talking about Rome: Total War. The information, other than the patching instructions, contained within this post may be partialally relevant to other TW titles, although I sadly cannot be sure, sorry.

Do you have the latest patches? To play MP you need to have version 1.5 fully operational. To know which patches to install, you will have to check your version, you can do this by entering the options menus and taking a look at the number in the top left hand corner of the screen.

If the number is 1.0 or 1.1 then you first need to patch up to 1.2. The 1.2 patch can be found here. Next you simply have to download the latest 1.5 patch from here. After you have followed both these instructions and installed both patches, you earn the ability to play MP!

If the number is 1.2 or 1.3, you simply have to download the great 1.5 patch from here. After you have followed both these instructions and installed both patches, you can play MP!

If the number is 1.5, then you don't have to do anything

To access MP, first click on the "Multiplayer" Button on the Main Screen.

After you have done that simply press the "Insert CD Key" button. The screen should come up with an area to type text requesting you to enter your CD-key. You can often find your CD key on the back of your manual. Other likely places are on the disk or on the back of your disk-case. If you are absolutely sure that you don't have a CD Key, then take your game back to who you purchased it from.

Once the key is inserted press the green tick and then press the highest button on the list. Insert the name you want to play with, press the green tick, and enter the world of MP.

Hope this helps you, if you require any more information do not hesitate to ask in a new thread, good luck, cheers!

BTW, guys, I'm sorry for taking this off-topic. To prevent further thread derailment, please do not reply to this post. Thanks!

BTW, woad&fangs, either way works fine, 1.2 or 1.3. I always choose to recommend 1.2 since it is the patching order which the EB team recommend and 1.3 comes with some nasty issues in certain circumstances.

you can't patch from 1.2 to 1.5. you have to download the 1.3 patch before the 1.5. , I occasionaly turn off Fog of War to see how the AI is doing in distant lands. I also modded to unlock all factions. Wait does modding count as Cheating? I'm so confused. Anyways if you have to cheat to beat Vanilla AI that is really sad so I don't use any other cheats.

Do cheats work during multiplayer mode ? NOT that I would, I was always curious about that and if there were any designed for multiplayer mode.

I actually used the .unfreeze. cheat for the first time ever over the weekend, but it did me no good! Playing an XL Almoravid campaign for some light relief, I had a new calipha come to power at the age of 23, and all his "uncles" dropped out of succession, so there were no other princes around. No problem, I thought, he's 23, young and virile, he'll soon be up to his ears in sprogs. By age 33 I was beginning to get worried about him.... after a few more battles etc I suddenly realised he's now 46 and STILL no heirs. So I resorted to .unfreeze. and be begat one heir, then promptly died at 52! That's the first time I've lost a campaign due to having no heirs

They can do both, if used correctly. Cheating a bit to make the game more interesting, and perhaps, sometimes, more challenging, is completely acceptable. But cheating to the point where you unbalance the game is, well, just cheating.

Question Re: To cheat...or not to cheat

Perhaps I am just really stupid, but how would one go about entering a cheat in MTW/VI? If it is mentioned earlier in this thread, I appologize, but I skimmed through it and couldn't find an answer... So, any help would be... well... helpful! Thanks!

You just type it. No fancy tilde button, just type it during regular play. Be sure to spell it all correctly, as what you type is not displayed anywhere.
