I received your message. You are right in few things but you are wrong in many others. Yes, I avoid to interfere in distant areas where I have no influence (for example because the local clans refused to accept my nomination; yet I hope they will change their opinion for me). Instead I prefer to solve the problems near my borders. Is this wrong? Have I attacked somebody without a good reason?
My conscience about Asai is calm. I advised him to abandon the alliance with the Oda many times. It was in vain. I consider Kitabatake to be a peaceful clan and that he finally recognised my nomination. May I remind you that the Oda behaved in very arrogant way and offensed me and the Shogun several times? I supported Asakura for number of reasons and one of them is that he sent me help, something which Asai never did. We both know I had no other choice.
Finally, Otomo Sorin, I no longer want peace with you. It is useless. Your words confirmed my suspicions. Now we both know you will attack me not because of the Asai and Oda but because you fear me. But you are blind for the people you are allied with. If the next Kanrei came from these clans, you will remember my rule with good things (if you survive until then). They will not be weaker than me but just on the opposite. And you should know this. But look at Asai: he offered me to become my vassal if I am to help him. Is this an honourable step?
And I will ask you a question. As you said, you were unwilling to support Mori. Then I ask you what you promised to him to secure your success of the siege of Akizuki? I even start to think you urged Mori to hurry up (how come the fall of Akizuki coincided the attack on Yamana and Amako). And were you not greedy for power when you asked Ryozoji to become your vassal?
And is it not too early to speak in the name of whole Kyushu? Shimazu is well and his lands flourish... until you finish with Mori, Amako and Yamana.
But how generous is the mighty Otomo! How well he hides his greed behind beautiful phrases. If I am not a good Kanrei, tell me who are you and what good you did in order to have the right to judge me?
