Question Saved Game to New Machine

I know *where* my saved games are, but when I tried to load the game on a new system it failed without an error message. What I did on the new machine was to start a campaign (as England) and do a Quicksave to create the \saves folder. Then I copied in the latest save from my HRE game. When I clicked "Load Campaign Game" and selected the HRE save the screen showed the loading bar, then showed another bar and returned to the "Load Saved Game" menu. What did I do wrong? Are there files in other folders needed?

Just in case it matters, the HRE game is a position where I'm playing on after winning the Short Game. Also, the game runs fine as England.
I have a mind like a steel sieve.

A true answer eludes me, but -- using my guessing skills -- perhaps the versions do not match?

was it an older version save? that still shouldn't affect it I don't believe. Sounds rather odd! try a different HRE save, maybe the turn before that or something, it might be a corrupted save?
I play Custom Campaign Mod with 1.2!

it happened to me too during my reinstallation of MTW2 for the 2nd patch.
It only happened to the current savegame that i'm playing.
It didnt happen to my other saved games.
It wasnt a big problem so i just ignore it.

The light bulb flickers dimly on...I'm not sure this instant but it might have been a *newer* version save. Offhand I don't remember if I patched the new installation. If I didn't...
