I do understand what you are saying, but giving away your IP Adress to a trustworthy source, such as Microsoft, is nothing to show concern about. Microsoft is a cooperation that is highly unlikely to sell the information gathered onwards, like certain groups may wish to do. They probably only need it for research.

I'm really not concerned about the possibility of the data being sold, but I question why they need it at all...
