Thread: Are hordes possible in M2:TW?

    Default Are hordes possible in M2:TW?

    I was wondering if it is possible to mod in the ability for factions to become a horde if all their cities have been conquered, like in Rome:Total War Barbarian Invasion. Has anyone already made a mod that does this? I loved the ability to become a horde in R:TW BI, because it presented a greater challenge. Also, if I was conquered and I was playing one of the faction that could become a horde, it would offer me a chance to stay in the game.

    It's possible and actually fairly easy to do (just give them the horde parameters in descr_sm_factions), I don't know if a mod implemented it yet though.

    In SM factions the Mongols and Timurids have horde_units which means that they can become hordes.

    I am thinking of making the Mongols and Timurids hordes from the beginning since I think it is unfair that the Mongols get free upkeep even after settling. To achieve that I guess I will have to add "Horde unit" in the campaign script. Hope that works....

    I will try to do this and possibly release it now that I know it's possible. I haven't had the chance to unpack the game files, because both my hard drives are full. I think I will work on making room so I can try this.

    Well it did not work, the Mongols did not show up so don´t put in "horde units" in campaign script.

    It just means more experimenting is needed unless someone knows how to do this.

    Gundugs Otherworld mod, gives all the factions the horde ability,check it out at the TW Centre

    The Venetians in the Crusades campaign are a horde. It is easy to set up as stated.
