I've never fooled around with Vista, but the save games are in the SEGA\Medieval II Total War\saves folder, and you can copy paste them into a fresh installation and use them. I'd recommend copy pasting them somewhere else on your computer, so they won't dissappear when you uninstall M2TW

Make your life easy and just REINSTALL Vista over vista.

A reformat would be safer, but would require backing up data

@jaymc, they're in the folder Per Ole mentioned ([root m2tw]\saves); just copy them out and back in on a new installation and they'll work fine, provided it's the same version.

Saves created using mods are in [root m2tw]\[modname]\saves

I know that as well but I don't know his experience with a computer and its often worth the hour to try this over forgetting to back up that one file and losing it forever that you will need later.

If m2tw is on the vista drive, a reinstall will probably delete it anyway.

A repair, on the other hand, might not, but is likely more trouble than it's worth.
