    Default Long Vive Frexas!

    Dept of State, The Hague
    July 12, 2007, 20:05 hrs

    From: Adrian II
    To: Chief of Station

    Text

Just back from a investigative trip to France. Spent a week in an apt in Normandy and a few days with an acquaintance in Langres, Champagne.

    Main findings

    1. French-Texan fraternization is proceeding apace. Operation Buffalo Grill is entering it final phase with leaflets being openly distributed along all the toll-roads claiming that "There is always a Buffalo Grill near you!". As a matter of fact, there is. We know how the French feel about American fast food. Hook, line & sinker.

    2. IQ of British population lowering steadily. Samples taken at Dieppe show profound alcoholic crisis coupled with dietary problems cause irreparable damage to British genome.

    3. Michle Onfray is an idiot, but an amusing one. Contrary to Gaullist propaganda his series on the history of Philosophy (Contre-Histoire de la Philosophie) can be read in female company without risk of wardrobe malfunction.

Interesting findings, though I've heard of number two before.

    Go FREXAS!
There, but for the grace of God, goes John Bradford

My aim, then, was to whip the rebels, to humble their pride, to follow them to their inmost recesses, and make them fear and dread us. Fear is the beginning of wisdom.

I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation.

So now we wait for the Texan invasion of France? Or will they get the map backwards and invade Japan?

Reinvent the British and you get a global finance center, edible food and better service. Reinvent the French and you may just get more Germans.

Hah! I don't need to worry about your sarcasm. Great food is what France tells the world is great food.

And we know great exotic food when we taste it. Le steak-frites is le summum du dîner chic! Honest food is the big thing nowadays. Authenticity. Food in which you can taste the culture and the lands it's a product of. And one bite of grilled steak and you know its Texas. Unmistakably so. You taste it's grassy praries, nurtured by the soft breeze of western winds. You sense the authenticity of Texan culture. The pride, the heritage. That restless drive, longing for new frontiers, eyes firmly set on the far horizons, dreams of wide open spaces filling your heart...

While you backward lot still think it's hip to burn American effigies, I know Americana is where it's at nowadays. Mark my words, in two years time America is going to be the most fashionable thing on the planet.

    2. IQ of British population lowering steadily. Samples taken at Dieppe show profound alcoholic crisis coupled with dietary problems cause irreparable damage to British genome.
Yes, I know. I started a whole tread about this, but I didn't really know how to put it politely so I figured my best bet would be to work my way around it a bit, starting by tentatively probing how people think about uneven genetic ditribution of cognitive abilities while slowly working towards the conclusion presented above...

    3. Michle Onfray is an idiot,
    I agree, Adrian.

Langres? Really? Are you insane, Adrian? It must be the dullest city in the country... I spent two years there at the forestry school... depressive!

Wa..wait, you mean...they don't place forestry schools in the midlle of bustling cities but rather in dull provincial villages near forests?

    That's odd...

Mais non. I was fascinated by the originally falsified authenticality of the town center and its 12th, no 15th, no 19th century cathedral -wait, wasn't it unrecognizably restored in the 50's? Whatever. The local cheese, surprisingly called Langres, was another treat (sheesh, what a stuffy stinker). Not to mention the mayor's cultural programme; the nice lady at the tabac who had an opinion, go figure, she told me so many important things about Sarko..

Umm I think Louis said precisely that in a more tongue in cheek tone:

He was saying that a forestry school would be in a forest not a city, and that by definition being in the middle of a forest would make it a dull provincial village.
Our genes maybe in the basement but it does not stop us chosing our point of view from the top.

Hey, easy, Louis, if the forests are "cleared", I'll become a beggar in the metro! (or maybe you know what "clearing" means in forestry... unlikely it is...)
People in Langres are really illiterate... they hardly speak french. Very bad place, really... "Pubs"? No pub in Langres... It's Haute-Marne, not Bretagne! The only renown place there is Colombey-les-deux-Eglises, but De Gaulle is dead for long now. Just stay away from Haute-Marne. I wonder what Adrian came there for...

Back to the topic, now... Frexas? What a good idea! Come on cowboys, here in Doubs we're bored of Mercedes-driving Dutchmen asking us where the first discount foodstore is. Yeeeeeeha! Texas (should) rule!

When I lived (briefly) in Texas, the locals pronounced it: "errl".

On a related topic (the merging of France and Texas), out here on the left coast we're merging California with the UK.

Does this mean that someday Frexas and Britifornia will have to fight over Arizona and New Mexico?
