    Best preview so far.

You've made my day with the Pahlava enhancements. Absolutely glorious stuff.

How commoon are the disasters planning to be?Are they going to happen rarely, uncommon,or will they be rampant and destructive (which I doubt)? Love the preview though, especially the Border Trade idea.Anything that makes money is fine with me.

To put it in EB terms, it will be a Type IV with access to Persian and Babylonian troops to recruit. Also, it functioned as a major religious center that was critical for the ties of Seleukid kings to their subjects - festivals, sacrifices, etc. As such, due to the religious pilgrimages for the festivals, or even just as a tourist attraction, it was a lucrative economic center.
Are those Babylon troops you speak of avaible to everyone,or just the Seleucids? And are they avaible outside of Babylon,or are they only avaible in Babylon?

Check the preview again - I believe I put in there how frequently the disasters occur, and the intensity levels.

A note: the human player only gets messages for volcanoes and earthquakes when they hit his land. A Casse player may never see a message for either of them, unless his diplomat or spy is in a distant place where one occurs. But for some reason the engine will give you a message every time there is a flood, no matter where on the map it is. Annoying - it makes it seem like floods are constant, when they really are not common in any given place. And it makes it seem like earthquakes and volcanoes virtually never happen. Unless you are in Ethiopia I guess for volcanoes, or Greece or Iran/Afghanistan for earthquakes.

Most lag for me is created by seas (I guess by the little ships that indicate the amount of trade). When the map is over land, everything runs smoothly, when it's over sea, it's pretty slow.

I don't know if the specific names mentioned above are to be used (mostly just because I am not familiar with Iranian-type names or languages), but several months ago, while helping me with a project that I won't name here because I'm not sure if its been mentioned publicly before, Ario (Persian Cataphract) mentioned to me that he had a list of correct Pahlavan names that had not yet been implemented.

I have the exact opposite. I have the slowest framerate over forests and the highest framerate over the oceans. If I scroll out to the Indian Ocean or Atlantic I can reach the full framerate.

I can't really remember offhand. There is really only the Shipri Tukul, which can be recruited as mercenaries. The Seleukids can recruit them in the Tigris-Euphrates river area (Babylonia, Seleukeia, and Charax) from their factional MIC.

But when Babylon is going to be type 4 government region, the Seleucids won't be able to build the necessary factional MIC to recruit the Shipri Tukul. How will this be solved?

It will probably change to be recruited from the regional MIC.

I must insist: scripting causes most lag. Now quite possibly some animated elements add to the lag -> which would be why you experience more of it either above the sea or forests (depending on your GFX card - IIRC some (Nvidia?) GFX cards have trouble rendering the trees properly, something with sprites and stuff.)

Forgive me for not being more specific - due to limitted knowledge on my part - but AFAIK the general rule is: if RTW Vanilla didn't lag, then the map elements don't cause it. It's the scripting which causes it, but it is also the scripting which delivers most of the "EB experience". So you may experience more lag with certain map enviroments due to your Hardware specs, but the amount of lag 'added' by the map is next to nothing compared to the amount caused by scripting.

there will be more eastern troops types in babylon, crowned by the shipri tukul, but also probably including some archers and lighter spearmen, and probably iudaioi taxeis. the region was only added recently, and there's still work being done on it.

    excellent preview!
feature that allows to see neighboring cities right from the start is long awaited! such an obvious knowledge (an option) a player should have had since vanilla RTW.
    thanks EB!

    Hello again Kambiz

The name lists were actually made a long time ago, both for males and females, including some very obscure names. The basis behind the work on authentic names were the name charts made by Shapour Suren-Pahlav of CAIS. The issue has rather been the implementation, however we do not want to reveal exactly every aspect of the work behind the Pahlavân, so what you get to read is the tip of the iceberg =)

Oh you read correctly, there's much, much more in store for the Pahlavâ. In fact, I dare to even say that currently they are one of the most complete factions as we speak, and let's just say that I've got more in store for them

Pahlava seems so awesome, I added them to the "want-to-play-one-day" faction list.

You guys continue to amaze me.

One question though (other than the obvious WHEN WILL IT BE DONE?!?! OMG!! )

In your testing, has the elimination of Arabia made the Saba faction anymore secure than before from the AS or the Ptolemaics?

Maybe someone else can answer that, but my only campaign thus far was as the Ptolemaioi, so that threw a wrench in the works for testing out AI expansion there...

One thing we did not like was the ahistorical "journey across the heart of burning desert". Every time an army marched in a straight line from Seleukia to Saba, the historians wanted to throw up. So without getting too much into the details, suffice it to say that more traditional routes are now preferred.

Edit: By the way, the screen shots simply don't do justice to Stefan25's new map graphics....and nor could they. When you first load up the next EB release, the visceral shock will take your breath away. Literally.

I thought that was what a heavily American English-influenced dialect of Finnish (spoken in certain parts of the USA by finnish immigrants, though I'm not sure it exists anymore) was called?
