Thread: Annoying

Is there any way to be able to boot STW with the second cd in the cd-rom? Having to put cd1 in just long enough to boot the game and load my game is getting very annoying.

Full install it. Then you only have to ever have CD1 in.

The only way I know is to do a full install.
I think there are three levels of install. The full is 1600 MB on your HD, but if you have the space it lets you do everything with only disc #1. It was worth it to me.

This is the first 2 disc game I have ever seen that operates like this.

I think that no-CD crack is for version 1.0, so if you have updated your Shogun with the latest patch (v1.12), don't use the crack. Is this correct, borisus? I'm also trying to look for a no-CD crack for v1.12.

The good news is that borisus edited his post as soon as he was made aware of .org's policy.

Over the years I've seen many of patrons get their backs up and act like genuine idiots in similar situations, but borisus' actions are definitly to his credit. Well done m8 + thanks!

You can also just put in one cd, then once at the title screen, take it out. This works for medium and full install and stays in the game for custom, historical, and multi. Haven't tried it on campaign. Works well with my network

Well, hmm. Cracking STW is a condemnable practice for two reasons: 1) it is (probably) specifically forbidden in the End-User License Agreement that you have all agreed to abide by when installing the game 2) it makes software piracy possible, even easy. The CD-in-drive check protection exists specifically because the company wants to make sure you play a game you have bought, instead of a copy you've l33ch3d off some w4r3z s1t3. (So 1) really exists because of 2) ).

Now, if you use a crack to get better performance by running the game directly from your HDD (which is invariably faster than your CD drive), there's nothing morally (as opposed to legally) objectionable in that.

However, the mere existence of a crack assures that there will always be someone who tries to weasel out of paying for the game by using a cracked version copied from someone else, and this is not only analogous but economically identical to stealing. I despise this kind of behavior, and there is no valid excuse whatsoever for it - every pirated copy is denying the game's developers their hard-earned money, plain and simple. The benefit gained by the tiny amount of "honest crackers" is minuscule compared to the vast amount of good-for-nothings who try to benefit from it in an illegal fashion.

This site is not a medium for software piracy, or anything analogous to it. You have agreed to respect that rule upon registering. Thus, cracks are not allowed. Basta.

As far as I know...The others are right. The only way I know of to do it is to Full Install. If my game were working right I'd post more but I'm gonna reboot my system totally so I can play it.

Hope to see you all soon in some games.

Lol. The only reason i use the crack is because that way i dont have to go find the cd and wait for it to load. Plus if i lose the cd, no big deal. I dont believe in using cracks for piracy.

One problem I've had is that the game cuts off when the Odda's clan guy comes in for an alliance. I never can sort that out!

I tend to use versions that are cracked to remove CD checking for the simple reason I have a small home LAN, and I generally prefer to arrange things so I can play any game I want on all the clients, and also have most of the game files reside on my fileserver.

I am generally opposed to games piracy and I have actually purchased all the games I play; In the case of a few, such as Diablo, Total Annihilation and C&C, I've actually purchased more than one copy to support full multiplayer use.

It's probably a bit pie in the sky, but I wish games could be installed to support floating license keys as some professional packages do.

No it's not, though for it's type it's not bad. I got it free with my PC but I'd not have bought it myself
