Thread: marian reforms

    Default marian reforms

this may be a stupid question, but i finally got the marian reforms in 118 BC and i was wondering if it still allows you recruit roman cavalry as i had the fully upgraded polybian MIC but in the same settlements in the marian era i can no longer train any cavalry units there.

    Thanks

there was no roman cavalry after marius' reforms. they used allied and auxilias. so germanic and numidian cavalry etc

You can recruit four types of auxilia cavalry in factional MICs in Hispania, Gaul, Germania and Thrace (besides many others in regional MICs of course, for instance Gallic noble cavalry in Mediolanum )

thanks for the info guys guess ill send one of my lesser family members on a mercenary hunt to the east for some good cavalry. Now i just go the horrible task of lowering my hugely successful veteran polybian legions into border protection roles. Oh well gotta move with the times.
