Default I have just been submitted to a scientology test

I had to do an assessment for a job I am applying to, in this assessment they had IQ tests and a big personality test. Now i'm not fond of (abstract) testing. But curious to how I would score I tried to find a similar one on the internet. I found one on a scientology site...

Apparently, I took THE recruiting test for scientology, the OCA. It didn't include all the weird questions though, it include others, like asking about arachnophobia.

I feel slightly used. I wonder though, whether or not I should bring this up when I'm called back by the firm (the assessment was done by an independent agency). Do they know what kind of tests they are relying on ?

Uhm, asking questions for and about things not directly related to the job are illegal, as I understand it. This would include items such as "personality" tests, etc. You might want to look into this further, and if it's free or cheap get some real legal advice on the matter.

    In the EU as well...?

If I'm not mistaken doc_bean is Belgian. [Or was it Dutch? lol]

But yeah, personality tests sound like the stuff government regulation against corporations are for.

D'oh! For some reason I thought he was American, have no idea why... Same rules might apply though, dunno.

    Sorry mate.

Well doc, spill the beans - are you qualified to be a scientologist?

Edit: the "spill the beans" phrase was an entirely unintentional pun doc. Must have been a subconscious reflex. Sorry.

I am getting this "They're everywhere!" vibe. I'd think there are two possible reasons.
    1. someone is somehow connected to scientology and you should be rather careful not to slide into a big mess.

    2. someone was lazy and just copied parts of their free test thinking it could be useful, maybe some parts of their test are actually useful.

You might, like Whacker said, want to get legal help or ask an expert on such matters, I'm definitely not one.

Took a similar test on the dutch scientology website, apparently I show a lack of judgement

Now the guy taking the test claimed to be a (corporate) psychologist, so i'm not sure if he's connected to the CoS, I'll be able to call him and discuss the results next week, so if he wants to sell me some self help books I'll know enough (and will wonder if and where I can report such a blatant scam). Too bad my next interview with the company is scheduled before that. I do now know what a scientology test looks like though, so if they show me a similar graph with similar results, I'll probably mention something about it.

Hmm, in theory we've got good privacy laws, in practice i've been asked (by a different company) to provide my SIS number which would give them access to my medical history
Asking about your relationship, your kids or plans to have kids, where you live, your hobbies etc. also isn't too uncommon. I know a girl who was asked about her religion and got a comment because she was living together with a guy out of wedlock. I fear when it comes to protecting privacy when applying for a job Belgium (and most of Europe) we suck.

I was going to say something about, at least we're not France were most companies judge you based on your writing (graphology) but now i fear the last 'test' I had to do, which was simply filling out a form, might be used for just that.

    HR sucks
