    Default Romani recruitment issues

    Hi all

since this is my first post ever in this forum , I 'd really like to say a sincere THANK YOU to all of you guys who made giant leaps towards the dream I call " best strategy game I ever played ". And that is kind of an understatement . Who would have thought that such a game was possible , back then when I was first stunned by Shogun Total War . Keep up the great work guys ( and gals - possibly - dunno ) . Be healthy , strong and full of creative ideas ( also known as : " great potential for wealth" ). Were I a believer , I swear I'd pray for you .

    Enough with that .

After slaughtering thousands upon thousands as the Sweboz , failing miserably as the Sauromatae , taking sweet revenge ( I'm a sucker for roleplay hehe ) from the Arverni and the Aedui as the Casse , quiting my campaign as the Koinon Hellenon because of the " Silver Death " ( I've been lurking , I admit it ) , I gave it a try with the Romani just to be for once on the positive ( financial ) balance on the first turn of the game .

My problem occured the moment I took Taras from Epeiros . While all usual Romani buldings were available the faction barracks weren't . Only the regional barracks were available . This was also a fact in Rhegion and Messana . I uninstalled , reinstalled , started over and , again , the same problem ( ? ) appeared . Note that in all my other campaigns I encountered some CTD's ( which never persisted after I loaded say, 4-5 turns before , "altering the past to save the future ") , a couple of times "poor" provinces ( recruitment-wise , but that could be my inadequacy to fully understand the whole recruitment-government system ) but never did I encounter the described above problem .

    I wasn't sure this was a bug , that's why I post here , in case I overlooked something .

    Is this normal ?

    Satyros

    P.S. : Feel free to move where/if appropriate this topic , I won't mind , really .

Taras, Rhegion, etc, count as "Greek" cities, no different then Thermon or Athenai until the Polybian reforms. At which point, you can recruit roman troops there.

As was said, you can only recruit troops from a few provinces in Italy during the first period. After you reach the Polybian reforms (242 BC if you control all of Italy), you can recruit troops from any province with an Italian Regional Government.

So what you're saying is that after the Polybian reforms I will be able to build faction barracks in these cities ?

Either way , it doesn't bother me or my game much , I just wanted to know now , before I need to scrap my campaign after 50 ( game ) years .

    Thanks a lot mate .

Back to me campaign then .

P.S. The only thing that bothers me about the Romani is their faction colour , I hate red . Red sux . It was great to kick Romani butts as the Aedui . My rant is over .

    Hi.

The boys are correct, recruitment zones expand as reforms happen, but government resources don't. So there are a few instances in the early game where you can build Type I and get no factional barracks.

About the faction colour: Sorry but it stays Red, or rather Stygian Purple.

You'll love it when you Marian reforms. The amount of carnage you can do increases 10 fold . With imperial , a hundred .

Rule of thumb concerning factional barracks:

-Camillan: five starting cities + Segesta
-Polybian: all of Italy except Mediolanum
    -Marian/Imperial: see https://img503.imageshack.us/img503/49/05mk9.jpg

And https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=80557 for your general reference.

    Cheers.

    Sweet mother of Ozzy !

I just butchered 4 full , ( lotsa Gesaetae ) stacks of Arverni with the same one ( experienced ) almost full army ( ok , it was on the defensive ). One after the other , 4 battles .

The guy who orchestrated the massacres needs to become Imperator so as to return to Rome for the Triumph .

Before this total slaughter of the Arvenri he had captured Mediolanum from the Aedui .

How much better do the Romans get ?

I knew they were tough , playing as the Getai they gave me an extremely hard time , after every win I was always out of infantry ( reduced to 1/4 initial strength ) .

    This is sick .

In a good way of course .

Once again , thanks for the help guys .

edit: P.S. I just read more carefully the FAQ . Okaaaay peeeoople , move along , nothing to see here , I'm an idiot . hehe .
