Thread: Middle Ages

    Default Middle Ages

The year is 1066. In England, William the Bastard has become William the Conqueror, and England is now under Norman rule. In Spain, the Reconquista has suffered greatly with the split of the Christian kingdoms in the north. France is greatly divided, with independent counts and dukes defying the authority of the French King. Trouble brews in Germany and Italy, where the German Emperor is having difficulty keeping his large empire together. The Byzantines must encounter a new threat in the east, with the Seljuks pouring into the Levant.

This is a game based on Medieval: Total War and 12th Century Glory. It is not intended to be strictly historical, but as historical as is practical.

There are 55 factions to choose from:

    1.England - Warmaster Horus
    2.Gwynedd
    3.Powys
    4.Deheubarth
    5.Scotland - Destroyer of Hope
    6.Orkney - Jubal Barca
    7.Ulster
    8.Connaught
    9.Munster
    10.Leinster
    11.Meath
    12.Norway
    13.Denmark - CountArach
    14.Sweden
    15.France - Sarathos
    16.Brittany
    17.Anjou
    18.Maine
    19.Flanders
20.Aquitaine - Tiberius of the Drake
    21.Toulouse
    22.Zeeland
    23.Holy Roman Empire - shlin28
    24.Barcelona
    25.Aragon
    26.Navarre
    27.Leon
    28.Castile
    29.Galicia
    30.Moors
    31.Almoravids - Conqueror
    32.Hammadids
    33.Zirids
    34.Beni Hilal
    35.Beni Sulaym
    36.Fatimids
    37.Seljuks - greaterkhaan
    38.Georgia
    39.Byzantines - Kal 'Motep
    40.Alans
    41.Serbia
    42.Croatia
    43.Venice - Warluster
    44.Pisa
    45.Lapps
    46.Cumans - Cronos Impera
    47.Hungary - The Stranger
    48.Patzinaks
    49.Poland
    50.Wends
    51.Lithuanians- gibbonsonsg91921
52.Russian Principalities - Garcilaso de la Vega el Inca
    53.Volga-Bulgars
    54.Bohemia - woad&fangs
    55.Normans - Innocentius

Each turn will represent a year and will last a week. Your generals will receive vices and virtues and ancillaries which effect 5 main characteristics of theirs: Loyalty, Acumen, Piety, Chivalry/Dread, and Command.

The Vices and Virtues list is almost formulated, and the rules are almost compiled. If you want to enjoy a deeply interesting and engaging medieval game, then I urge you to join.

Seems interesting. What are you going to do with the spare factions? Run them yourself? I'm assuming we won't get 55 people to play.

Oh, and I'll be the Seljuks.
It is better to conquer yourself than to win a thousand battles. Then, the victory is yours. It cannot be taken from you, not by angels or by demons, heaven or hell.

RTW, 167 BC: Rome expels Greek philosophers after the Lex Fannia law is passed. This bans the effete and nasty Greek practice of 'philosophy' in favour of more manly, properly Roman pursuits that don't involve quite so much thinking.

    House of Árpád is good

And the Almos do have Morocco. It's the southern Iberia that they don't possess - it's still under Moorish control in 1066.

I'm hoping to get all 55 faction slots filled before I start. The Pope will be controlled by me as the unbiased moderator of the game.

Combat is still being finalised, but it probably will be a similar style to RoC, without the element of chance.

But chance helps to make it more realistic. There can be little bonuses and that to different factions to make the units more different, and thus take some of the burden off of chances shoulders.

There will be some element of chance, but often it won't determine the outcome of a battle.

Well, in MTW, it depended. If you were Catholic, he made your life miserable by threatening you with excommunication if you tried attacking other catholics. If you were Muslim, he made your life miserable by ordering his cronies(all the Catholic kingdoms who were capable) to crusade against you. If you were Orthodox, he mostly left you alone, unless you took direct military action against him. THEN he would try to make your life miseable by telling the cronies to crusade against you.

I believe Sarathos, that Ignoramus saw that Normandy was a English Possession, and retired it from the factions list. You can have Brittany, if you want something nearby.
