Rap: La Rumeur, Abd el Malek.
French song: Miossec, Da Silva, Pauline Croze... and so many: I don't like french song!
Rock: Marcel et son Orchestre (un grand classique indémodable: FAIRE CHIER MA SOEUR)

Well, I like everything from good old Rock and Roll (Chuck Berry) to Beatles and modern Rock. Don't mind if there is some Funk in it.

Well you have to give an ear to Noir Desir, even if the lyrics are a bit too abstract to be useful to someone who learns french. It's good rock'n'roll, french way.

What is the best French rap? I like the sound of rap in French, and I need to get some music so that I can blast it in my car every now and then.

La Rumeur, again! A bit conservative in terms of music but with high political consciousness (though a bit too "leftist" for Louis, maybe )

I almost forgot. Try listening to Arno http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arno_Hintjens

I think you're going to like it. I would recommend 'Les filles du bord de mer', a cover from Salvator Adamo.

Shy'm - For you my friend.
She's hot, and she sings really well. One of the few French hotties I would really like to have.

What about Fatal Bazooka at rap?
Ja mata, TosaInu. You will forever be remembered.

Those that finally return to their day job?

    MC Solaar is quite big.
But his music is more a mix of several styles, not really rap maybe.

Axiom is more hardcore rap. But I don't think his language qualifies as french anymore.

MC Solaar sounds a bit like Timbaland.

Axiom doesn't even sound like he's speaking French to me, and I don't speak a word of it!
