Default Battle map lighting skies and weather

Does anyone know if there is anything written up on this? I've been trying to change descr_daytypes for a while now - and whilst it is definitely moddable it is a complete pain, I think due to interaction with other files like skydome / pallete etc.

I'm also not sure how the weather sound file relationship works or how any of it relates into the options you get in custom battle..

    any advice ?

You see, Mak, no one can answer our questions anymore ;)

(nope, I've not seen any tutorials on it).

If in doubt write it yourself....

I can now make it go funny colours very easily - what I've been having trouble with is little things like getting white snow.... think I've finally sussed out what was up with that, I hadn't realised that when it gives times for the daytype you don't get colour for time x until you get to time y what you actually get is a transition between colour at x and colour of y, according to exact time in between the two. And if colour at y is the very green colour that can get used at night then you get some rather odd green snow in the daytime if you don't have transition times working correctly...

weather sounds are equally fun but can understand bits of that - you do however get the most creative error message I've seen from CA yet:

(that one had specific relevance to me, so nearly fell off chair laughing)
