See, I looked at this thread, looked at Fragony's OP, actually bothered to go on wikipedia to read about this Melkert guy -- apparently some major Leftist Dutch politician who suffered a political death in 2002 after his populist opponent got snuffed -- and I still don't get what's going on. Did he got a corporate job for a U.S. company? Or was he being hired for some taxpayer money-wasting committee? Was he being sent to North Korea as a diplomat of some sort? Or what?

I assume there is some sort of scandal involving Melkert, North Korea and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), but a brief scan through some links didn't reveal what it is about, and I can't be bothered to read the links Google came up with in-depth.

Melkert loves the status quo, so he has broken the status quo and annoyed the Americans?
Look, his personality stinks (which means he is open to blackmail) and he is a lousy politician. His failure in The Netherlands shouldn't have been rewarded with jobs at the World bank and UNDP. I agree with all that.
But now some whistleblower accuses Melkert of diverting UNDP funds to North Korea's nuclear arms program. That makes me smile. Melkert wouldn't be capable of diverting his own wallet without being caught.

But nothing that little suckup weasel does surprise me, he would hump the moon if it gets him a nice job, and MUHA he did get caught, well is going to be caught, hopefully.
