KH is actually a very good faction to do an aar on....due to the fact that you can have different powerful families, and roleplay them vieing for control i.e. the Spartans trying to maintain power while the Attikos and Rhodios attempt to keep them in check. That sort of thing.

Out of those choices, I like Makedonia. They are good empire builders. With Carthage, you can build an empire and confront the Romans, but they don't have any grand goals. With Makedonia, you have the chance to build up a good base of power away from AS, then challenge them, at the time of your choosing, for Alexander's empire.
Hello there,
I voted for the "Koinon Hellenon". Apart from the RP-potential, my vote is based on the Victory-Map, meaning: take a look at the provinces the KH has to own if that faction wants to reach Victory ...
Towards the end of the book, the Moties quote an old story from Herodotus:
"Once there was a thief who was to be executed. As he was taken away he made a bargain with the king: In one year he would teach the king's favorite horse to sing hymns."
"The other prisoners watched the thief singing to the horse and laughed. 'You will not succeed,' they told him. 'No one can.' To which the thief replied, 'I have a year, and who knows what will happen in that time. The king might die. The horse might die. I might die. And perhaps the horse will learn to sing.'"
Voted for the maks, though Kart-hadast is very cool too.
Would love to see an Epeiros AAR btw![]()
The problem that the unity within the KH would not have been a historical given. Even moreso once the immediate threats to the three cities have been dealt with. Role-playing has potential, but there are also a few issues to contend with.Originally Posted by Bootsiuv
I can imagine Sparta and Athenai vying for the honour of who liberated Demetrias, Pergamum etc. from those Makedonians. You would expect quite a few irrational actions for glory, with disregard to safety.
Not to mention the differences in army selection and competence with said armies between the different family factions. A poor Infantry Commander should prove himself barely competent - and thus succeed once in a while in obtaining a totally unnecessary defeat - yet the penalties have too little effect on a competent human player. Quality of command is one of the differences between the various family factions, so you can't conveniently ignore that completely. Clear victory after Clear victory is a bit of a stretch for the poor commanders.
The way families are working does not make the forging of unity easier. You would need to write down which family faction dominates each and every province, so that you can role-play building construction as well, and assignment of governors. Spartans are a bit less likely to develop an extensive sea-trade and harbor network than the other factions. Etc.
I voted Carthage. It would be nice to see them get "revenge".... and they have elephants![]()
Pandas are cute and cuddely.
I voted Mac. Karthadast is, imho, too much like the romans. If you play as Mac you will have makedonian-style phalaxes, very good cav, as well some of the best/coolest elite units in the game!
Karth also have a great setup, and is really fun to play. But as I said, you will pretty much fight over the same land, with pretty much the same kind of units as the romans.![]()
Why does everyone keep talking about "revenge" for the Go-Karts?
In 272 they had no bad relations with Rome.
Although they are, along with Selukia, Ptolemy, and Baktria the most diversified faction.
I voted Karthadast for no particular reason really![]()
If you really want an epic game, I suggest Pontus/Hayasdan/Saka on VH/H...
It's nice to get steamrolled by the ai for a change![]()
