Weird text bug

Hello all... I've run across a rather odd bug while playing EB. I have .81a v2 straight from the main link on the website, on a fresh R:TW 1.5 install. I am running the game on the barest minimum requirements, though.

This bug happens after varying lengths of time in the game, after clicking on something that displays text. At first it starts by 'blacking out' text on the head of a information window. Then, after varying lengths of time, all text becomes blocked out in a similar fashion, again usually after clicking on something that displays text. Sometimes it goes away by just ending the turn, one time it went away when i hit the print screen button (to take the screenshot below), and sometimes i have to restart the program. Unfortunatly, restarting the program takes forever, because of my crappy system I'm using.

Anyway, I realize this isn't exactly a high priority bug (I've done modding on other games myself, and I realize what sort of priorities there are), but I was wondering if anyone had any insight to the cause of it, or any fixes I might be able to do myself.

Sounds like a buggy driver for your gfx card. Try updating, or if that doesn't work, downgrading to a more stable driver.

Sorry, should've mentioned that. They're as updated as they can be, and if they're unstable, this is the only issue I've ever had with them. Heck, I can't even find older drivers to downgrade to... DirectX 9.0c (4.09.blahblah, whatever the hell it is) is installed, too.

Yeah, can't help but echo what foot said. Maybe folks with experience in those matters can post more, but it's an extremely unusual (anyone ever seen it before?) problem with EB/RTW as far as I know.

Never seen it before, can't help. If you want to upgrade to get better performance and are on a tight budget, RAM is probably the most important piece of hardware for EB.

Edit: Just to be sure, you can run MemTest overnight to verify that your current memory is working properly.

Never, in my year of reading bugs have I seen that before. But if I had to guess I would say there is something wrong with your graphics card. Update drivers? Did vanilla do that?

Its possible that the latest release of the drivers have added some stability with the RTW engine, I would suggest downgrading if you can't upgrade. What's your gfx card?

Occasionally, I experience the same thing. Simple way of getting rid of it: save; quit RTW; reload.

That happens to me also after playing for many hours. A restart always fixes it. I think there is a memory leak that may be the reason...i've gotten up to 2 Gigs of RAM used by RTW/EB
