    Default Sandstorm!

Anyone experienced this before? The Almohad re-emerged and attacked me in North Africa with a large modern army. I picked my force and went to set up for the battle. It was a blinding sandstorm! Here’s a couple screenshots:

The replay does not do credit to the storm, though. The unit icons were covered by blowing sand, so even positioning my force was difficult. Fighting was a mess. Fortunately, after a few (very long) minutes, the storm abated and I was able to crush the Almo’s (600 KIA/1500 POW for a loss of 251, mostly during the storm) and slay their ruler.

Never had a sandstorm last for that long or be that intense! I count myself lucky!

Yeah, that's pretty insane all right.

I remember from one of my first Egyptian campaigns when I found myself in a battle against the Turks; I had invaded Syria in an attempt to shorten my borders. The sandstorm was so bad that my men quite literally couldn't see more than about 50 feet in front of them. Recognizing it would be all too easy for the Turks to ambush me in such a situation, I decided to simply hold my position and wait it out. Unfortunately, I'd forgotten to turn off the timer and thus lost the battle since I'd not won in the time allotted.

You must have a poor graphics card or something cos sandstorms definitely aren't supposed to look like that!

i have to agree with scowie. ive seen some big sandstorms but they weren't that colour. that seems to be almost a browny gold. it should be the same colour as the general terrain.

    Hi all.

I have seen the sandstorms you mention quite often. All on my all old laptop. Not with the new one, yet - but I have just returned from MTW 2 and started to play MTW VI again.

However, I started to enjoy the realistic aspect of fighting and seeing nothin, due to good combination of troops I do not remember that I had lost one of these battles, but I had to take quite high losses.

Well, I've never had any sandstorms that bad. I have had some absolutely brutal snowstorms, though. Indeed, one was so bad I just stuck my troops in some trees nearby with one dispensable horse archer trying to figure out where the enemy was. Took a good 10 minutes to find them.
