hey all you game mechanic experts, are hussars faster than heavy cav?

if not, whats the point of hussars when you have polish retainers?

They have the heavy horse, which should be faster than all barbed and armoured horses. Though I thought about giving them the fast pony which seems to be the fastest horse, but I didn't try it yet, would also change the look of their horses and I'm not sure whether ponies are smaller in the game.

Aren't Hussars built from cities?

Hussars ride on heavy horses which gallop at 8.80 m/s. In contrast, armoured horses gallop at 7.06 m/s and fast ponies gallop at 10.8 m/s.
Polish Retainers also ride heavy horses.

Let's compare their stats using this table:

Unit Cost Upkeep Pri Attack Pri Charge Sec Attack Sec Charge Armour Def Skill Shield Morale Stamina Training Discipline Knight
Polish Retainers 650 175 10 8 11 4 6, 8 4 4 9 Normal Trained Low No
Hussars 750 210 13 6 14 4 5, 6 6 4 11 Good Trained Normal No

...and their availabilities:

Hussars:

Huge Walls: 4
Earl's Stables: 3
--King's Stables: 6

Polish Retainers:

Fortress: 2
--Citadel: 3

I leave it up to you to decide which is better.

I hope that author will not mind if i ask here about demilancers. Whats so special about demis? theyre expensive military units from city that dont go for free cities upkeep. Are they faster than normal cavalry? , because if not i dont see a reason to put them in my stack with english knights.

Yes, Hussars are built in cities, as was mentioned in passing.

Nice work as usual, Miracle.

Other information such as availability and environmental modifiers will be detailed in each unit's separate page. Click on "Arab Cavalry" to see a sample.

something wrong with it, it says that hobitars have the same speed as mailed knights 8.80.

There's nothing wrong with it; go check in-game for yourself. Hobilars ride ponies instead of fast ponies which means they are not fast-moving.

It's a pity I have to change around a bunch of stats once Kingdoms is released.

yes i checked, i made a run with demilaners and hobitars. Hobies won because they have a better start , so i this you should also include launching speed in your stats.

Average acceleration is the same for each speed class regardless of training or other characteristics.

What you have observed are differences in the largely random individual command response delays. Their effects on overall unit response time is a function of unit size.

Since you made only one run you could not have seen this. The more tests you run, the more you'll see that neither Demi Lancers nor Hobilars possess inherently superior acceleration to each other and that any differences you may have seen are the result of random individual command response delays.
