    Default config file reverting

I thought I was going crazy, but now I am certain:
A number of times I have added the line 'movies = 0' to my medieval2.preference.cfg, and indeed it then suppresses the starting movies. However the next time I play, the movies are back, and when I then check out medieval2.preference.cfg the line is gone!
How and why is my preference file reverting to the old version?

first of all the game is installed with an empty pref. file (may already give it away ..;))

thing is the game makes a new file each time you play a game (not just launch the game afaik, but actually "starting" some game), so whatever you add to it doesnt matter, the game just uses is vanilla settings next time you start it ...

(though annoying I guess made so for your own safety ..)

bah, but then what is that file for? How can I change my preferences if the game just overwrites it?

Well, that explains why I've had to re-edit the config file to use the battle editor more than once. Hmmm....

do a search and you'll find there are ways to append stuff to the config file, afaik lots of mods do so ...

Or you can set the config file to read-only. The drawback of that is that you can't change your options anymore in-game (or rather you can but the changes will be reverted when you re-start the game).
