    Wink Re: 10 Top Games

    In no order of favor:

    - Civ & its spinoffs: Colonization, Master of Magic, diverse others
    - RR Tycoon 1 & 2
    - Might & Magic 6 & 7, to a lesser degree M&M8
    - Age of Wonders 1, 2 & Shadow Magic
    - Knights of Honour
    - Gothic 1
    - HOI 2 & DD, several mods: mod34, Byzantine mod, Kaiserreich
    - Medieval 1
    - Panzergeneral (all of them, actually), I love this ol' RTB strategic games
    - Tropico
    - NWN 1, especially the module: "The Aielund Saga" (it's amazing)
    - Morrowind
    - Imperium Galacticum 1
    - Master of Orion II (on vh, to get the AI races get the most bonuses ;-))
    - Heroes of M&M 3 & 4 (to a lesser degree: 1 & 2)
    - Capitalism 1 & 2
    - Fallout 1 & 2, even more Fallout Tactics
    - Planescape Torment
    - Temple of Elemental Evil (with the Co8 patch: it's how it should have been)

and now my all time favorites:
    - Icewind Dale 1 & 2 (2 even more than 1)

    and finally

    - BG 1 & 2 (with expansions)

God, what did I play BG 1 !!

P.S. Oh, I forgot RTW, with RTR or EB. And BI with IBFD. Silly me!

    P.P.S. I'm getting old: I forgot the SSI's AD&D RPGs for the Atari ST & Commodore C64. Also on C64: The Bard's Tale 1 to 3, Choplifter, Summer / Winter Games ...

Towards the end of the book, the Moties quote an old story from Herodotus:

"Once there was a thief who was to be executed. As he was taken away he made a bargain with the king: In one year he would teach the king's favorite horse to sing hymns."
"The other prisoners watched the thief singing to the horse and laughed. 'You will not succeed,' they told him. 'No one can.' To which the thief replied, 'I have a year, and who knows what will happen in that time. The king might die. The horse might die. I might die. And perhaps the horse will learn to sing.'"
