    Default babylonian Spears

    This Is prob my fav unit in the whole game i love the sound There mace's make on shilds and armor..

    My questian is this..

    I'd like to give this unit to the arabs in the south and i think the hellonic heavey hoplites for the steppe whatever i cant rember there name..I rember being able to make them in almost every city i took..So Could you tell me how to make them buildable for The arabs..and make them not a hidden resorce for AS..Keeping in mind that the fewer citys there able to be built in makes thease and other elite units a waste of unit slots..and alot less useful if there range of recrutment is so small..anouther scripting issue?

    Noted that Eb is not very editable friendly compard to the reguler rtw bi..all you had to do is get rid of hidden resorce and you could make them everywhere..asking how to do that here is like pulling teeth..Nobodie seems to wan't to help anyone..Is there a tool to help edit unit states like there is for first MTW? gnome editor? Anyways..I dont care much for historic correctness in a vedio game lol the arabs lack a heavey back bone unit..I'd like to make them buildable for them in every eastern province..its only fair sence thay can't recurte S*it outside of arabia..You understand what im saying..

    Please forgive my tone..I really love this mod..Just get alil noyvis when it looks like someone is about to change a core part of the game..wouldent you?

    Oh..One last thing..I was reading a comment in the invasio barbariom or something forum about the old Eastern Temples and temple slot pics? Now you know that at this time there temples didnet look like assyerian and babylonian minaret type temples even carthage has them? I know you can't change them on the map..but atlest give them a new unit card ffs out of all the beutiful unit cards for the game and the eastern temples are still out of date even for the frist RTW..

    If you don't care then why do you care.

    Anyway, if you want to recruit the babylonian spears anywhere then its very easy to do. Just make sure that they can recruit them in the edu and just add the line in for the saba barracks but without any requirements. Go and check the modding section of this forum for more info on adding new units if you get stuck.

    OK. If you want to add to Babylonian Heavy Spearmen to the Sabaeans I can help you out. First I need a few questions answered. Where do you want them to be recruitable? Do you want them to be recruitable from the factional or reagional MIC? And on what level?

    I can help you with the Heavy Hoplites too but I need to know what unit your talking about. Is it the Thorakitai Argyraspidai, The Pheraspidai or the Hypaspistai. Or are you referring to another unit entirely that the AS can't even recruit normally?

    Me persenaly I stopped playing the game such as building up ur money and building things from turn to turn back in 04 lol and the money bugs are not gone yet..So its basicly a waste of time..I prefure to use money cheats and build massive armys and distory the map..I don't know what you guys have agenst cheating..Becouse it still takes days and weeks to beat with Cheats lol
    I have a hard time believing you love the mod, when you disagree with all the ideas we have implemented and even its basic premise of realism and being true to history. I honestly think you'd be better off with another mod... SPQR may be to your liking, you get plenty of huge armies there even without cheating.

    chill guys, he's just lookin' for a good time, not a historically accurate and painstaking mod that has in-built advantages and disadvantages for every faction requiring certain skills and strategies to play successfully

    there's many types of players and I'm sure he's gotten the help he wants

    Ok guys I'm prob the biggest fan and critic of this mod..I like to rattle the teams cage now and again lol I don't mean it haha.

    As to where to make the babylonian spears id like them buildable in every eatern factian for the arabs..i was onlying giveing an IE for the hoplites coz int he last build i could make them everywhere..unless it was the resorce scrit i removed last time i cant recall..when i tried to do that this time with units it crashed hahah there not to heavey or to lite..there just right.

    The barracks are alil conffuseing that you named..So id like them buildable in the highest ones if those can be built in every provance out side the home lands..

    I like Foot the fella that helped me with the hoplite bug back in the day..he's fiesty..


    Also what about the eastern temple cards? this is a historical mod? so lets change it guys..no more minaret temples for the eastern factians

    I would like to make the babylonian spears for saba buildable in all the east..and all there home territorys..at the highest level of MIC..if that is one that can be built in every province i usely dont pay to much attentian to how many barracks apper i just click and build..As far as AS i just wanted to be able to do the same with them..I wasent sure becouse i'd never started an AS campaian untill just recently and was upset that i only seen 2 provinces that you could make them in..I've always felt from the first total war that all a factians cream of the crop units should be buildable in all there home provinces no matter how elite..thus makeing them more useful.. now i understand and agree with the team on histroy and area of Recurtment..but this is just for persenal pleasure and also for need..

    I also apologize for stepping on anyones toes..

    I think more then a few factians need some home land (Love) there recurtments seem a bit limited..

    Ok...

    Open the export_descr_units.txt, find Babylonian Heavy Infantry (unit #295). One line that says:
    Code:
    ownership        slave, parthia, romans_julii
    make is say:
    Code:
    ownership        slave, parthia, romans_julii, saba
    Since the unit is using the merc trick, I don't think you need to worry about any of the other unit files. (Though if you get a crash when using them in game, I was wrong.)
    Now go to the export_descr_buildings.txt, look for the second on 'MIC L'. Look for "royal_barracks_L1", and go to the very bottom of that section. You will know you are at the bottom when you reach the entry for "building barracks" (no letter and the buildings have no recruitment or bonuses). On the end of the list (above, in royal_barracks_L1), place this line:
    Code:
                    recruit "eastern infantry babylonian heavy infantry" 0 requires factions { saba, }
    They will now be recruitable to Saba everywhere, in the highest level of saba barracks.

    Heh..Thank you..

    I had actuely figured it out awhile ago..And something very odd happend the unit card was already there i dident even have to add one LOL But into the campian as i was scrolling threw the building screan it crashed lol and now when i try to start that campian it crashes..I think i added the unit to every barracks i dont know if that has something to do with the crash..

    Also..i removed the hidden resorce behind it..When i delete those things again how do i get the space to go back ahhhhhhh whats even more funny..AS usely has a run at me early on and this time on hard setting it didnet even make an attempt just stopped at the border hahaha Maybe the new units it knew i had scared them abit, the thought of broken ribs and cracked skulls scared them off hahaha..

    Babu;pmoam spears..I was useing anouther unit for an IE..i had earlyer considerd doing the same for AS but i quiet the campian and started a saba one now..I shall now attempt to short threw this and have anouther go at it..ill let ya know ty.

    Ok..All seems to be working good..no crashing yet..AS is acting like a big sissy It has maga stacks of units milling around i own all of arabia and the two free settlements in eygpt..now there acting fishy sending a scout unit or so to pester me and there my allies i think there trying to get rid of those few stakes of nubian spears rebels, The AS are being hammed to bits by the parthians and armaians and batria surpiseingly..thay declared war on me and attacked a port LOL nouthing ever more then that..and i agreed twice to a cease fire and then the 3rd time i didnet let them have trade rights now there begging me every few turns for trade rights i feel sorry about it really So i guess i should grant them some income and food lol there going to die anyways in the next few turns there broke as feck, I thought id never see the day when the silver death was scared to attack or invade arabia I got scared and built two units in a northern city and i'm guessing that was enough for them..who knows. this was before thay where at war with anyone but me go figure..
