    Default Scottish PBM :OOC

    Faction: Scotland
    Difficulty: H/VH
    House Rules:
Each player has three days to acknowledge receipt of save game, and up to a week to finish their reign(obviously barring any real life difficulties or emergencies). Otherwise their reign will be pushed back a turn.
    -20 year reigns
-No more than one mercenary unit per army
-2 units maximum (not counting agents) per ship
-Attempt to average no more than nine territorial conquests per game(gotta have things for every player to do! )
-Each player should do a writeup of some sort for his campaign

    Active Player List:
    Zim
    YAKOBU
    Econ21-Current Player
    Ramses II CP
    Elite Ferret
    Ignoramus

I think we have pretty much everything. I'm least sure about the idea of a succession style game, and moding the years per turn(easy to do, but some may not want to mod their games). I'd like to get the first reign started this weekend if possible.

    Turns Played
    Zim-1st turn
    Warmaster Horus- 2nd turn
    Yakobu- 3rd turn
    Econ21- 4rth turn
    Ramses II CP-5th turn
    Elite Ferret-6th turn
    Ignoramus-7th turn
    Yakobu-8th turn
    Zim-9th turn

Looks good for now. Modding the game for 1 year per turn is really only a question of personal preference. I don't mind, so it's no problem whatever's chosen.

We were talking about 10 or 20 turns per play, right? Or is it going to be a full reign?

When you said a succession game in my first thread, I thought you were asking for full king's reigns. I've been trying to avoid changing it because I thought the first person to reply to my thread wanted to do full reigns.

I like twenty turn reigns for each player in RTW and MTW2. We don't even need to change the turns per year then(with full reigns I feared we might run out of turns before every player went up).

If there's no objection, I'll switch to twenty year reigns.

Glad to have you in the game, Econ21.

    Hey everyone,
it looks like I'll be housesitting for a friend for one more day and his computer isn't up to MTW2. If it's ok with everyone I should be able to both finish my reign and put up the writeup by Monday night(or Tuesday morning for those of you in Europe).

    Hi Zim

Glad you are still with us.

Just a question before I get to my turn. Do I need to mod the game from vanilla 1.2 at all? Is it 20 turn or 20 year reigns? If 20 years do I need to mod?

    Thanks and good luck.

Ok, my reign's finished. Things went fairly well. I mostly took it easy, expanding slowly and setting up alliances. Tried to build up Inverness, but it's pretty lame, as castle's go. YAKOBU, I decided not to bother messing with the rate at which years go, since we're not playing full reigns. It's 20 turns per person.

Here's a map of the world, in the year of our Lord, "Turn 20".

    Our current situation
    Regions: Edinburgh, Inverness and Dublin.
Agents: We have two diplomats, one around Rome, and one around Frankfurt, plus a spy near York.
Allies:England, France, Spain, Milan and the Papacy.
Missions:Crusade to Jerusalem, with six turns to build a crusading army.
Council of Nobles mission to take Wales, with 15 or so turns.

The save file is here: http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/

The name is PBMScots21.zip . Warning, you will have to dig through a lot of KOTR files to find it.

I'll work on the writeup over the course of the evening, then make a writeups thread for it.

Alright, I'm not sure I'll be able to continue before... thursday, probably. I'll most likely be finished saturday, so you'd expect a write-up then.

Bump, and also: How's it going, Warmaster Horus? Is the save working ok? I reinstalled the game(plus the 1.2 patch) from scratch before playing my turn just to be safe.

I've got it, and I played it. I'm now trying to learn how to use Imageshack (well, I was about to, anyway). I said you could anticipate an update tomorrow, and tomorrow an update you shall have.

Update: Well, none today, at least, due to the fact that I have no tangible way of transfering the save and the pics from my laptop (upon which I play M2) to my family's computer (which I'm using now, and which has an internet connection). I'm getting a new USB key monday (I lost mine, gah, it was only 256Mb anyway) and you'll have to expect an update then. Sorry!

    Hi guys

Hope you are all enjoying your weekends.

Just a note: I am off to Tenerife for 2 weeks a week on Tuesday but am happy to play my reign before I go or when I get back.

Hope this can be fitted in with everyone?

    Okay: here it is: http://www.totalwar.org/patrons/pbm/PBMScots41.rar

As you can see, it's a .rar file, so if Ignoramus has a problem with it... I can upload a zip one.

Write-up pending until I've got more time.

Briefly: I conquered Caervanon, Jerusalem. Jerusalem revolted and I took the army to conquer Acre, so we've got a foothold in the Holy Land. Not the one we wanted, but still...

We're receiving tributes from a few guys (Russia and I forgot who else). We've got a large-ish army in Acre and another in Edinburgh. Oh, by the way, I had to recruit mercenaries in the Holy Land to keep Jerusalem from rebelling, but the city did anyway. So Acre has a half-dozen Scottish troops and about the same amount of mercenaries. I realize this offends one of the rules above, but I had no real choice. Acre is safe, 150% happiness.

We don't have a navy, although mercenaries and cogs can be recruited if necessary.

I did my utmost to please the Pope, that's why there are a churches in every settlement.

I was surfing through the various Throne Room threads for the Throne Room article in the September Gahzette. I was very pleased to see how well this game is coming. I've missed reading succession games for a long time now. Zim, you've done an excellent job with the write-up and I hope this game keeps going right through to the end.

Thanks, Tincow, I know I'm not the best writer on the forums, but I always try. I mised the succesion games too, that's why I tarted one.

YAKOBU, have fun on your vacation. By the time you come back the next two people will probably have jut about wrapped up their reigns, so your should be waiting for you.

Warmaster Horus, sounds good. I'm not too worried about the mercenary thing. THe rule was mainly to prevent the sack, hire mercenaries, sack cycle that some people use to blitz.

If you think the next peron will finish their reign before you do a writeup, could you put place saving post in the IC thread? That way nothing gets out of order.

This is actually a new experience for me, as despite being part of WotS and KotR, I have never participated in an original succession PBM.

Just a quick note to confirm I am flying on 04/09 to Tenerife and will be back on 19/09. Good luck in the PBEM while I am away.

Also I bought Kingdoms from EB today but don't know when I will play it. Will it affect our PBEM if I have it installed before my turn?

I don't think it will. I guess it installs in a way to avoid changing the core files, so...

As for my write-up, which I believe is what we're waiting for, might take some more time. I've had difficulties within my family last week, and since I'm starting school again in a couple of days... But, I'll do my best.

Hey everyone. I've been trying to avoid rushing anyone, especially since one of the next few people is on vacation for a while(figured Yakobu could use the extra time if a turn or two took a while), but I'm pming Ignoramus to see if there's a problem preventing his playing his reign. If so we might go to the next people.

Just want to let people know I am indeed dedicated to finishing this PBEM, in case my absence lately has been otherwise interpreted. If Ignoramus can't play his reign for a while, I'll contact Bob_the_great to go first.

Warmaster Horus, I understand about both family problems(had them aplenty a few years ago and again now) and school(especially as someone who worked his way through school up to this last semester). If you could just write a few sentences like "such and such happened during my reign. I conquered this province, lost this one, earned the enmity of this nation, etc." it'd be nice. If not, that's fine, too. I just graduated from college and still had trouble finding time to write(made up by writing quickly but poorly, I'm afraid). Things like this go on the back burner when real life issues occur, of course.

    Thanks for participating, everyone.

Eh, I'm really, really, really sorry I was unable to take care of it yet. This afternoon, at around 4 GMT (give or take some time), I'll take care of it. However, it will be short.

And I'll resign from this after I've done the write up. I'm more busy than I expected to be, and it will be difficult to do another reign, to do another write up.

    Again, sorry.

Edit: okay, sorry once more, the write up will have to wait 'til tomorrow morning. Schoolwork was problematic, tonight.
