    Default Problems with EB installation

Hi everyone, first time poster long time lurker. I have a problem with the EB installer that i'm trying to troubleshoot.

I have twice tried to download the installer to this computer (fresh install windows xp pro x64 edition as Administrator) and each time it is about to finish the download an error message appears saying 'Access Denied' along with an AVG message saying the file is infected, but apparantely that is a false alarm according to another thread (Just clicked ignore).

I later managed to transfer the download from another computer that it had been on for ages. However the .exe won't run and displays an error "Windows cannot access the specified device....You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the items". Same problem with the installer on my other computer.

Can anyone help me out with this? Is it an AVG thing, XP Pro problem or something else entirely? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like 1) You may have some anti-virus software running which blocks the file. See if that is the case. 2) There may be something UAC-ish (User Account control) turned on. As admin you can turn it off. UAC prevents the 'noobish' admin from making a mess of Windows, and/or Security by denying him some typical admin privileges. Which could be the case here.

I would try to disable AVG while downloading, I think that will fix it.

Having problems getting EB2 to run? Try these solutions.

Cool Re: Problems with EB installation

Ok it turns out that AVG antivirus was preventing it to run, shutting down all of AVG unblocks it and installation seems to be running normally. I wouldn't be suprised if you get more problems like this while AVG (and other anti-virus's?) is playing up.

    Thanks for the help.
