Game Refusing to load

Hello Everyone,
I have applied all updates and fixes (both permanent and temporary) and I am running version 0.81aV2 with no unofficial mods.
I am using Vista so this could be the problem right off the bat, but I kind of doubt it.

The game gets to the loading screen and crashes giving me this error message:

Script Error in data/descr_building_battle/dbb_slot_fillers.txt, at line 11 column 24

Unable to find building_battle localized string 'none'

I have tried to run the game a half dozen times now and it hasn't loaded the opening menu. I very much appreciate all the help I can get! I am so excited to play, so this not-working thing is killing me.

RTW works with Vista = EB works with Vista. Don't worry, I use Vista myself.

The very, very weird error somehow brings to mind the image of a corrupt download. Please try to uninstall, redownload and reinstall EB.

Ok well the vista news is good. I will try the redownload/reinstall right away.

As mentioned in the installation guide, you can check whether your download is intact.

Ok so I uninstalled/reinstalled RTW and EB with all patches, etc. I checked that the download was intact (which it was) also. And then I managed yo reach the faction selection screen when I booted it up but when I tried to load a game it would send me to the load screen and then crash very quickly after that. This time there was no error message or anything. : (
Any help appreciated. You guys have been great.

You could install Filemon and use it to see what files it's accessing right before crashing.

Please also try to run vanilla RTW in the given installation to verify that that is running without problem.

Just in case, you should try the oasis temporary fix too, but I don't really think this is the problem as most have got error messages about it while you get none.

You may want to check your RAM using Memtest (google it) overnight if the game is crashing at erratic times. It will suggest solutions if there is a problem.
