No. Although if you don't do them you can lose one bar of approval and they will not do anything to you. I tried this out many times in different campaigns and they just say they are not happy but don't actually do anything. Just capture settlements and get the people on your side, helps a lot.

You could mod the Senate out, you'll find this question asked many times over in the Scriptorium.

    Hi Ozzman1O1,
I suggest that you remain vigilant if your senate popularity drops too low - the senate may demand that your faction leader commits suicide if they despise you enough. If you accept, your faction leader will die and the heir will take over. If you refuse, then civil war will break out between the Roman factions.

If civil war does occur, then typically all other Roman factions, including the senate themselves, will declare war upon your family and begin attacking your borders. Ensure they are well defended before flippantly saying "no".

Hope this helps, good luck, cheers!

I could be in error, but, it seems that the Senate and the masses have different interests. The Senate likes that you complete their missions. The masses appreciate victories and conquests.

Signing a cease fire can cause loss of popularity with the masses. Stunning victories boost the masses' admiration while making the Senate more wary of you.

When the time comes, it's the masses that urge you to take Rome, due to your popularity, not the Senate.

It's please one or the other, it seems, not both.

Up to around 35 regions and you please both the Senate and the People by expnading and doing missions.

After that your growing strength makes you less popular with the senate and more popular with the people. Senate missions become worthless or even harmful..thats when I tend to ignore them.

I don't see reason for doing senate's missions... only money rewards on start.
Senate missions are sometimes very stupid and lower your strength as faction (like go west and take this, after that go east and take this, with one army). I just not bother myself with it.

Hm, also they never go with war against me, unless I do it first. And when they demand suicide, no matter how many leaders you give them, they will continue this unless you haven't any members in family (defeated). This happened to me in my longest campaign as Julii. Aftre first lynched leader they asked for second, third... Easier just crush them all
