Downloaded a game from ebgames...getting a wierd error. Help!

All right I downloaded Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines from EBgames.com and can;t get it to run. The game installed fine but I'm getting a strange error. The tech team wont help, they just keep saying "Oh we are sorry uninstall try again," or "well if you feel this way we can refund you." Alot of help they are right?

Anyway here is the error;

You could try googling the error message. I don't think you're the only one who's had that problem. I haven't played the game since I upgraded my PC, but at the time I had no problems- if I get a chance I'll reinstall the game later and see how it goes.

Here is a page from Activision's customer support. The first tip just sounds like generic troubleshooting tips, but the "Advanced" fix may do something- just use caution as it involves a registry edit.

The advanced fix worked but noooowwww the game still wont run haha man I just keep running into problems and its driven me...well...crazy!

Game loads up plays thru the intro all fine but then i go into the actually game and i have white spots all over, many buildings wont show and then it frooze after 10 seconds of me walking around.

Its wierd cause I trump all the system requirements easily and my other Vampire game runs flawless.

I installed it on my new PC and applied the latest patch- works fine. I think I must have a newer version of Python than the one that causes conflicts.

As for your new problems... I can't offer much help. The game uses the Half-Life2 engine. Had you ever run that before? Did it work ok? Graphical glitches leading up to a freeze makes me think it's a heat problem on your graphics card. But, I'm sure there can be other causes too- perhaps a corrupt game install or bad drivers?
