The man who had earlier entered late now stood and spoke.

I have reviewed the situation my friends, and put forth another proposal.

proposal 8. raise a unit of Hoplitai Haploi

the army of Antigonos stands outside the walls of Athens and threatens it. Raising an extra unit of these cheap warriors will help to hold the walls without too much expense.

    My fellow greeks...

Many of you, even my own son, fail to realize that Korinthos, Athenai, and Chalkis are all within a seasons march of each other. Troops besieging Korinthos and Chalkis could easily assist any besieged garrison force within weeks.

I will besiege Korinthos in Spring of 272 BC. I will pull the entire garrison out of Sparte, leaving my son and governor of Sparte with his personal bodyguard to maintain order. I will attack Korinthos in summer of 272. Following the fall of the city. I will order Chremonides to lead a campaign across the straits into Euboea and besiege Chalkis. Our leagues armies which took Korinthos will be sent to Athenai to recieve upgraded armor and weapons from Athenian Blacksmiths. So you see, my esteemed council-members, Athenai will be without a major garrison for only a few short days.

I will likely keep the Rhodian Garrison. It currently stands at less than 300 men.

The projected ships will be decommisioned and scrapped, and their crews will be released back into the public.

Akrotatos, Chremonides, and Agathokles will determine tax levels in Sparte, Athenai, and Rhodos respectively. I will likely take Korinthos as my governance, and will determine tax rates there. Korinthos will fall under the Spartan sphere of influence, and Chalkis will fall under the Athenian sphere of influence.

I will update the MIC in Athenai if I have the necessary resources. I will also retrain and reoutfit the majority of our army in Athenai.

This is the plan for my reign. Any objections should be discussed here and now.

As I have said before, as long as the soldiers of Epeiros are occupying what would be Makedonian reinforcements then Rhodos supports the taking of Chalkis. I await the day when Rhodos can prove its worth, but for now I wish the Spartans to exercise both their innate martial ability and the caution I have encouraged

    Proposal 1: invade Corinth-yay
    Proposal 2: invade Chalkis-nay
    Proposal 3: Disband 2/3 of fleet-yay
    Proposal 4: Build coastal clearance-yay
    Proposal 5: Relocate Rhodean garrison-nay
Proposal 6: Build Athenian MIC-nay, as long as we can't provide money for it
Proposal 7: Create a Spy Network in the Kingdom of Epeiros-yay
We have to be carefull, my bretheren. We must not exacerbate Pyrrhos by stationing spys in his citys, as they can be spotted there, they may even tell him they are hired by us to save their lives. Therefore I suggest to only keep them in the land, collecting the "word on the roads"

If I may, fellow greeks, I propose that we raise some Peltastai in Sparte, to reinforce the attacking forces of my father as soon as they are made, they are excellent skirmishers and fair infantry, they are also from Sparte, the city-state that breeds hero's, they will fight with a ferocity known only to Achilles.

I agree with the young Spartan. Spartan Peltastai will likely be our most versatile troops until better infrastructure can be built. I will request at least one unit this year, and very likely one unit the following year.

we will need to choose our battles wisely, and use our more mobile though outdated peltasti and hoplatai against the heavier but inflexible phalangites... I am sure the martial tradition of Sparte is strong with you Yes to peltasti
