    Default Aztec Experience

Has anyone else gone as far as conquering the new world? As Portugal, I've gone as far as capturing the first city with a fully tooled up stack, and have now held off the Aztec reconquista horde long enough - 5 stacks of the most colourful troops you can imagine. For such a relatively small part of the end-game, they certainly put a lot of effort into those troops! The generals in particular were gorgeously done. After fighting numerous european and middle eastern enemies, they certainly brighten up the game.

5000 elite aztecs have met a sticky end against the fortifications of their old city...often I was outnumbered 3-5 to one.

So now, I am busily pumping out conquistadors as my original troops have worn themselves out. The Aztecs have completely emptied their cities of troops - all slaughtered by my invading conquistadors - leaving only Montezuma in the central city, and some minor troops in the capital. The New World is ripe for the taking.

I play VH/VH and I found the Aztecs a bit confusing. The generals all had an extremely low level of leadership - which meant that as soon as I got the upper hand I found quite easy to get the whole lot of them running. Considering the stats of such soldiers as eagle and jaguar warriors, I thought it might have been a bit harder. But my Portuguese Knights (all upgrades) and eventually Conquistadores made mincemeat of them. One unit of knights killed 400 Aztecs!

Anyone else have similar experiences they want to share?

Indeed! The Passive Ai once allowed me to kill 3/4 of the Aztec army with my musketeers and cannon before I lost patience and sent in the Gendarmes.

In the next battle, the Aztecs actually charged, but met the Tlaxcalan meatshield mercenaries, and faced both Ribault enfilading fire, and the dreaded Charge of the Gendarmes, routing the feathery devils and taking the lion's share of them prisoner.

Their situation steadily went from bad to worse as I repeated these methods to defeat them on several more occasions, besieged their undergarrisoned cities, and conquered their nation.

I have gone to America as the Turks on 0.5 timescale. It was fun fighting Aztec with mercenary elephants. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise, Muslims were the first to set foot on American soil.
    Weird Facts I have contemplated

-Thesaurus is not a species of dinosaur.
-Potassium is not found in potatoes.
    -Its Naples, not Nipples.
-All roads certainly do not lead to Rome. Does your state highway link you to it?
    - Dog is God spelled backwards but praying to dogs is a bit stupid.
    - Fart is Hydrogen Sulfide with methane and oxygen and is indeed flammable.
    - Igniting a fart is painful.
