If I want to mod the unpacked files, do I need to move them from the "packs" folder to the other "data" folder? Or do I need to delete or rename all the packs under the "packs" folder? I noticed nothing changing last time I tried modding the files in the unpacked files, but that was short-lived after I completely reinstalled to vanilla and downloaded and installed patches 1.3 and 1.5.

Verc's long gone I'm afraid or at least very seldom seen.

The unpacker by default unpacks to
rtw/data/packs/data/..... etc
nothing is read from the files if you mod them there.

You can copy everything it unpacks and move it so it all sits just in
rtw/data, ie copy the unpacked 'data' file over the original rtw/data and then delete (or safer re-name) the .paks

the better way to do it which seems to solve most problems is to use a mod-folder and just place the bits you want to change in the mod-folder on path
rtw/my_mod/data/.... where it should be read in preference to anything in the packs which can remain. see very rough and ready description of making mod-folder: https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showp...4&postcount=11
