From an immersion point of view I hope not. Pirates on the other hand better be, just to keep things interesting.

Well guys, you all should know that the golden age of pirates had long passed by 1700. And they were not much of a threat to warships…they tended to run away.
There are plenty of pirate games out there, even if some are a bit dated and they usually run from the 1500s to about 1720. With that said, has CA ever left rebel forces out of any of their games?
All the same, if they leave out all the Hollywood History, to me that is a plus.

empires set in 1700

its about history not fantasy

Not to derail this or anything, but this entire thread confused me. Multiple times.
I think this discussion is like when you enter a teleporter...only to be hurtled into another teleporter, which returns you to the first teleporter - but you've got too much speed built up to get out of the eternal teleportation loop.

Well...maybe, if Disney will allow CA.
I mean, we've had war elephants with cannons on their back, so...
NOTE: Not CA bashing or anything, just a little light-hearted teasing. I only accept constructive criticism anyway.
I believe in a society without rules, laws and regulations. A society where there are only ideas - strict ideas that must be followed to by the letter - and any failure to comply is punishable by death. This would be no dictatorship or police state, no one would be living in terror. It would merely be a 'reassessment of one's preferences,' people living in 'not-so-optimistic security.' So, welcome, those who are 'longing to be blindly obedient and loyal, unbeknownst to them.'
They've had joke names in the files before. I've remembered seeing an admerial Akabar leading one of my fleets before.
When it occurs to a man that nature does not regard him as important and that she feels she would not maim the universe by disposing of him, he at first wishes to throw bricks at the temple, and he hates deeply the fact that there are no bricks and no temples
-Stephen Crane
In all seriousness, Pirates themselves should be in the game, I am talking about Teach aka "Blackbeard", Bonnet, Roberts, Kidd etc.
The Golden Age of Piracy was in the 1700's, so pirates had most certainly not died off by now, so I see no problem with having small (and I mean small) pirate fleets that act as pains in the arse as Pirates did, yes I know you could send a 20 stack navy to go get them but lets be honest, why bother doing that, waste of ships, just send a few.
Some people think pirates shouldn't be in, but the Golden Age was the early 1700's and it would make me actually more bothered about these "rebel" boats, but only if its historically based pirates, no Disney (I do love the films but still, I love history more)
