Yep, I got that mission once (also playing as Spain). Didn't manage to pull it off though, because like Ixidor says, it has to be an assassination. I had a top-rated assassin, but the French king had very high anti-assassin traits... like maybe he had a few failed attempts by other factions before I got there.

It's a shame you can't team up your assassins for a hit, to boost the odds. Anyway, good luck!

I also received a similar mission a few times, but never managed to accomplishe it. You'll need a very skillfull assassin.

Remember that each time your assassin fails, the target might acquire some "anti-assassin" traits, making future attempts ever harder.

If you want to end the war with the French, and don´t mind little cheating leave Toulouse to French, it´s good buffer anyways and save/load until you succeed. Don´t bother trying if changes are less than 30 since it would take for ever.

Why is it always the French who ask for this?

Regardless, I'd say go for it if you have a good assassin, or if you don't/they are very small, ignore it and just finish them off and be done with it. The French can be a HUGE threat later on as spain if you don't take them our quickly. Well, as big as any non-asian (Mongols, Timurids) threat can be to Spain.

i got it ALL the time. regardless of any fraction - french, milan, egypt, spanish, HRE, Moors and Venice. even if i have only 1 or hardly any assassin (when playing as Milan, my merchants formed the spearhead of my attacking armies!). I think the only reason why the other fractions hasnt ask me is due to distance, which could be the trigger for the "assassin" event.

The mission are dynamically issued based on your ability to carry them out...

To get assasination missions you need to have assassins out their doing business. If you don't bother with assasins then you will not see the missions.

Yeah, the problem is that, right now, i only have an assassin with 8 in subterfuge, since the other one was killed trying to assassinate milan's faction leader (a waste since i destroyed them already). The chances are like 25% or something. I will see. I hope he increase his skill until he got there but the king has actually good command and all so it gonna be hard...
