in my opinion, the only way to fix the auto resolve issue in EB is by relaxing the command stars traits so that they are easier to get specially that there are alot of counter command star traits in EB.

but as any EB member will tell you, look at your generals traits to determine how good he is command stars are only effect nearby units :D

-3 Command stars are very important in auto-resolve. But they matter next to nothing when it comes to manually fighting the battles.
Are you certain that it has so little effect on manual battles? I've played little EB, but it seems people underestimate command stars.

Well it gives a morale bonus, and our own testing indicates that there is no (or very little) bonus to attack. Morale traits do same as stars but work for the entire army, whilst stars only work in a small radius around the general. We wanted to show the difference between a general who knows what he is doing (morale traits) and a general whos bonuses come from his charisma (which is what the command stars seem to represent). We have done testing on this, and the decision was not made lightly.

Give up your love-affair with command stars, we are here for life.

A general gives a morale & combat boost to units nearby: the radius of "nearby" is determined by the amount of command stars. The strenght of the boost, too, is determined by the amount of command stars.

    But.

Traits affect the whole army at a time. Hence, if your general suffers from tons of movement/campaign penalties (Starving; On his Deathbed; Extremely Unsure Troops) his command stars won't make up for it. On the other hand well suplied & confident troops can easily overcome the lack of command stars of their leader.

Since humans are generally speaking smart enough not to get slaughtered; the command stars never play a noticeable part on the battlefield. Only if your army is wavering before the AI onslaught will command stars help you, and even then, only limittedly.

    Radius of effect for the morale bonus is (seems to be?) 30 m + 5 m * command + 2 m * influence.

but there is something that the EB team is missing. command stars are important whn you auto-resolve battles.

now i thought that the mod was made to satisfy every type of game play. for example i like playing the strategy map i don't really manually play the battles why should i have to suffer losing an auto-resolve whn i have a better army and a better general just cuz my family member has no command stars. i rarely if ever play out the battles i like to micro-manage the economy the raiding the buliding basicly everything but sometimes i just get my () handed to me by a 7 star enemey general with 5 or 6 units

please i beg you do something about this :D

sorry for my tone if it seems offensive i apologize i was just complaining

It would be impossible to cater for every type of gameplay, of course it would. We focus on offering indepth gameplay, based around slow turns and developing generals. Of course, we are aware of the annoyingly large number of stacks that some factions generate, and we will work on ways to limit that, but we have never focused on making auto-resolve fair.

I very often have success with auto-resolve when playing H/M and I have a stronger army. As long as the bar is 2/3 blue, I'll generally win. Once in a great while, I'll lose, but it isn't often enough to make me not auto-resolve.

If the bar is less than 2/3 blue, I'll always play them out, because you'll usually lose.

EDIT: Also, remember to save your game before a close battle, that way if you feel you lost a battle "unfairly" i.e. it was a battle you couldn't have possibly lost, you can always reload. Or you could just use the auto win cheat.

my main question is that is there any interest among the developers to make auto-resolve fair?
the reason i say this is because the EB team has put some much effort and time into making a really nice "grand campaign" map. isnt that true? most of the improvements have been at the macro level - realistic troops, cities, wonders, cultures, buildings etc. by having an unfair auto resolve feature, it bogs down the macro campaign to a reallly slow pace and this makes the macro game suffer - perhaps fatally for some of us.
i know you can't cater to all player types but the point i want to make is that you are really penalizing the people who like to focus on grand strategy instead of the minutia of every meaningless battle.
i dont see the point of having put so much work on such a deep campaign map if the game only favors people who like to be involved in every battle.
